01. firearm variety
— please, please, please research guns. there is more than just a "handheld" and a "rifle". there are brands and differences
— you have to know the parts of a gun to write them correctly (especially the difference between a clip and a magazine)
— there is no such silencer like in the movies, if you're writing a Marvel fic you can make up the technology BUT it's more accurate to not
— you can Google what kind of guns people use in films; fandom sites can tell you the basic issue gun of Agents of SHIELD
— give your ocs and agents DIFFERENT KINDS OF GUNS PLEASEEEE

03. shooting a rifle*
(*from my personal experience)
— there is a kick, and if you don't learn how to hold a rifle correctly your shoulder will bruise
— guns aren't as loud as you probably think and after a couple years I'm used to hearing them (far away and up close). I do still flinch though, although a lot of the people I've hunted with (who are in their 20s and up) don't flinch much
— there are different sizes of rifles and adjustments that pertain to each person
— there are certain kinds of bullets that you fire from certain guns
— it's actually really fun to shoot (especially when you're doing it safely!!) BUT IT'S A LOT HARDER THAN IT LOOKS!! it takes tons of practice to learn how to position your head and body and arms, how to aim, and how to take care of the gun that you're using
— it takes practice for sure. sometimes you'll be sitting in a stand and you can fire from your sitting position with a scope BUT in other cases you either have to stand quickly or you're already standing before you have to quickly find your target and shoot without a scope!!
— don't forget about licenses!!
