"Free you schedule Alli." I spoke.

Lydia and I went in her room carrying many bags of clothes we just bought.

"This could take a while." Lydia added

Allison smiled. Lydia and I exchanged bags.

"You exchange clothes?" Allison asked.

"It's like a Martin tradition." Lydia replied.

"How many outfits do you plan on wearing tonight?" Allison asked.

"I'll only wear one but Lydia on the other side always wears like fifty different outfits." I spoke.

"It's our birthday party. I'm thinking host dress, evening dress, then mmm, after-hours casual." Lydia spoke.

"I noticed that you didn't send any invites." Allison spoke.

"Don't look at me, Lydia takes care of all that, it's LYDIA' and lia's birthday, Lia in lowercase." I joked.

"It's the biggest party of the year, Allison. Everyone knows." Lydia added.

"I was wondering if maybe...this year things, you know, might be different."

Lydia frowned.

"Why would anything be different?" Lydia asked.

I looked at Allison. I know what she meant.

"Just 'cause things have been of lately. Things and people. Like Jackson." Allison tried to explain.

"What do you care about Jackson?" Lydia asked.

I went silent. Allison forced a smile.

"Do you know if he's coming tonight?" She asked.

"Everyone's coming." Lydia replied.

Well, this is awkward.

"This one's American Rag. Mmm, I love it. For me, not you. This one's Material Girl. It's for you." Lydia changed the subject giving Allison a dress.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. It was Allison's mom.

"Mrs. Argent. What do you think of this one?" Lydia asked showing the dress.

"Oh, it's lovely. Allison, uh, can I grab you for a moment to talk? Just the two of us." She spoke.

"Um, can we do it later?" Allison asked.

"Actually, uh, to be honest, sooner would be...would be better."

"The party's at 10:00." I smiled.

"Thank you. Will you be around before then?" She asked.

"I think so." Allison replied.

"You think so."

"I don't know."

Mrs. Argent sighed and left. I had a strange feeling as soon as she left. Like a pain in my chest.

"Well, if it had black details on it." Lydia spoke.

"No, that would be too much." I gave my opinion.

"I like this one." Lydia smiled.

She grabbed a dress and gave it to Allison.

"Would I look good with it?" She asked.

I smiled looking at her. She would look pretty in anything.

"You'll look stunning." I spoke and she smiled.

[...]

It was already 10:15 and as I thought, no one had arrived. Absolutely no one.
