Duane

Lyssa had decided to join us for the Brian Laundrie case.

I knew why.

It was because Gabrielle Petito was around Barbara-Katie's age.

She knew Beth wouldn't sleep until Brian is caught.

"Where is your kid?"

"With Leiana and Bo."

"You trust Bo with Mady? By himself?" Leland questioned.

"Don't question my decisions as a parent. I don't question yours."

"Fair enough."

And plus we needed everybody we could get in on this.

Kaleo, Sonny, Rainy, David, Dakota, and Cecily took the left side of the Mountains.

Leland, Jamie, Garry, Lyssa, and me took the right side of the Mountains.

Lyssa had went ahead of us.

Brian

"Brian Laundrie?"

I whipped my head around.

I calmed down when I saw a blonde hair blue eyed female.

"I'm Lyssa Chapman."

I knew the last name.

She is a Bounty Hunter.

"I'm just here to talk to you. Can we do that?"

I nodded my head.

Lyssa sat across from me.

"You know we're here about Gabrielle."

"Mm-hmm."

"Now, we have the autopsy pictures from the coroner's office."

She put pictures down in front of me.

"Now, we definitely know that her death was a homicide. By the fingerprints around her neck."

"I never touched her."

"Then tell me what happened, Brian. Because where I'm sitting, you're gonna get charged with your fiancée's murder. She struggled against somebody who overpowered her."

Duane

We arrived.

Lyssa was sitting across from  Brian.

"I never touched her."

"Then tell me what happened, Brian. Because where I'm sitting, you're gonna get charged with your fiancée's murder. She struggled against somebody who overpowered her."

"Let her.  It's the way she gets answers." Jamie told Leland and me.

He wasn't answering her.

"Look at Gabrielle! Look what you let happen!"

Brian was scared of Lyssa raising her voice at him.

"Okay. Let's start with the domestic dispute on August 12th."

"Okay."

"Leland, come here."

"Prepare to be hit by your Sister."

Both of them had read the report about the domestic violence dispute.

"Now, Gabrielle told the Police she stroke you across the face. Like this."

Lyssa slapped Leland across the face.

Garry and Jamie laughed.

"And then you did this to get her away from you, so you could drive."

Leland took Lyssa's jaw in his hand, digging his nail into her cheek.

He let go of her.

"So, basically, that's what happened?"

"Mm-hmm."

Lyssa sat back down.

"We also know something upset Gabrielle on August 27th. Can you tell me about that?"

"We got in an argument."

"Mm. I get in arguments with my fiancée and she doesn't break down. We get in screaming matches."

"I have no idea."

"Okay."

"Okay."

"So, what happened? Because something definitely happened to her. You or somebody strangled her."

"It wasn't me."

"Then who did?"

"We got in an argument. I had walked away to get more Water, so I could calm down. I heard her scream and it was too late when I got back to the campsite."

Brian was breaking down.

Lyssa wrapped her arms around him.

"I should've made her come with me."

"I know. There's always something we want to take back when somebody dies. I know I do. I still do."

"He's telling the truth, Dad. No guy can cry like that. Unless they feel really guilty."

"Who did it?"

"One of the park rangers. He was pissed off. He ran off when he saw me."

"But why did you leave her there?"

"I didn't know what to do. I didn't wanna get in trouble for it."

"Now, running didn't help you. You know that, right?"

"Yeah."

"Now, I know you know you have to get arrested. You are wanted by the FBI. You tell them all this, they will drop you as a suspect. And start talking to all the rangers."

"Okay."

"Okay."

Lyssa stood up.

"Now, what we do isn't what Cops do. We're not like them."

Brian stood up.

She cuffed his arms behind his back.

We walked away with Brian.

"And I've got it all recorded. So, if you don't want to tell the FBI agents, I'll just play it for them, okay?"

"Yeah."

"Jeez. Now, I remember why Lyssa was so good. And not just her ability to jump on their backs and tackle them on the ground."

I laughed.

Lyssa put Brian in the middle.

She got on the left side of him.

I got on the right side of him.

"If I find out you lied to my daughter, you're dead."

"You better believe him." Dakota told him.

"Mm-hmm."
