I had been sitting on that bench for nearly an hour, staring at the emptiness. Everything of that city had always fascinated me, but now that I was there, finally there, I wasn't feeling at home.

My name is Giorgia Braschi, and I'm 16. Until a few days ago before that day, I used to live in Florence with my parents and my sister Livia, a year older than me.

We moved to London the last week, because of my father's job, that has taken us away from home many times. Me and my sister would have to start school the following day, and I was happy that Livia had not passed her last school year, because at least I wouldn't have been all alone in my new class. The Director of the hospital where my father was working had provided our family a house in a rich zone of London; the neighborhood was situated near Hampstead Heath, in North-West London.

Our house was really big... It could almost be defined a chalet (and that's pretty cool because we don't have houses like this in Italy!): two living rooms, an enormous dining room, five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a garden, two garages and even a small swimming pool! To sum up, a dream which no one of us was used to.

My bedroom was upstairs and communicated with my Livia's one through a sliding door... Our rooms were so big that they seemed empty even though we had brought there everything we had in our bedrooms in Italy; me and my sister had to share the bathroom, but we were already used to that. But let's go back at the bench: I was sitting there because I missed my old house and because I didn't feel like I belonged to that life.

There was blowing a cold and strange wind, indistinguishable sign of rain. Even though it had started raining, I didn't want to get back home, so I spent nearly half an hour there before realizing that I'd be better go home. I arrived completely wet and this was also noticed by my mother:

- Giorgia Camilla Braschi! Do you think this is the way to get back home? Go to your room and change your clothes, we have guests for dinner! - Only my mother in this world has the extraordinary ability to invite people for dinner after just four days in a new place. I ran upstairs: I said hi to Livia, who was lying on her bed in front at her laptop.

G: - Liv, do you know who's coming for dinner? - I asked, taking off my wet clothes and putting on a pair of black jeans and a long bordeaux cardigan, because it was pretty cold even though it was only September. L: - Erm, I think the Barkleys...

-G: - Yeah, but which ones? -

The Barkleys were a rich family: the parents used to live in the house at our right; the wife was called Anne and was a housewife, while her husband, John, was a businessman. Their sons lived at our left, and were three: William was 24 years old, James 23, and Edward 21. We had met them when they came to welcome us and they had impressed all of us, so much that my mother had invited them.

L: - Uhm, I don't know... I hope Edward isn't coming! -

G: - Why not? What did he do? He was so kind towards you! Oooh, are you telling me that that guy hit your feelings in a good way...? -

L: - Giò, you're mad - . Yes, that guy had hit her feelings in a good way.

G: - Liv, I'm going downstairs to help mom, wear something smart! - I went down and started setting the enormous table in our dining room. The phone rang.

Mom: - Giò, could you answer please? -

G: - Yes, mom... Good evening! Braschi family here -

X: - Good evening, Gloria! I'm Anne Barkley... -

G: - Oh, Mrs. Barkley! I'm Giorgia, her younger daughter -

Anne: - Oh, hello Giorgia! Could you please ask your mother if also a friend of the boys could come? He lives just in front of us -

G: - Yes, of course! Hold on -I went to the kitchen and asked to my mom, who said that it was okay, because she had already cooked for almost one hundred people- Mrs. Barkley, my mother said there is no problem -

Anne: - Perfect! See you later, then! -

G: - Sure, goodbye! -

When I finally hung up the phone I kept setting the table, not knowing what life was about to bring us.
