J U N G K O O K
"What does he like to do? Does he watch TV?"
"He's not even a year old yet, Tae, I don't think he understands TV."
I was talking to my friends Taehyung and Jimin. I got the opportunity to hang out with all of them recently and I told them about how Mina and I haven't been on a real date yet because we've been busy with school and work and Junsu. Immediately after that, they insisted that a few of them could look after Junsu while we went out. I told them they didn't have to, but they insisted anyways.
A few days later and he were are. Mina and I are briefing them on what they need to know for the few hours we're gone.
"Just sit him on the rug in front of the couch if he wants to play. His toys are in the box in the corner. You can read him a book or something if you really want to." I say.
"Right...and you said he usually naps right after he eats?" Jimin asks.
"Yeah. Make sure he gets burped first though. And you'll probably have to change his diaper when he wakes up and every few hours or so."
"Okay. No problem. We got it, right Tae?"
"Mhm. All set."
Their faces said otherwise.
"Are you sure you'll be alright? You really don't have to if you-"
"Jungkook." Taehyung stops me, "Go on your date. Isn't that what you wanted? You're going on that date and that's final."
I let out a quick breath, "Thanks guys. We really appreciate it."
Mina walks out of our room when she's done getting ready. We wanted this to be a casual date so neither of us were super dressed up, but we got matching, comfortable outfits to wear instead.
"You ready?" I ask her.
She smiles and nods before turning to my friends, "Did Jungkook give you the spiel?"
"Yep. We're pretty much experts now." Jimin says.
"Thanks for doing this guys. If you need anything, feel free to call or text us."
"Ah, you two worry too much! Get out of here and have fun on your date!"
"Alright, alright, we're going."
Mina and I say goodbye to Junsu before leaving. As soon as the door shut, we heard him cry.
We stopped in our tracks and Mina had a worried expression on her face. I knew she wanted to turn around and go to him, but I gave her that look and held her hand.
"He'll be alright. It's just a few hours." I say.
She sighs, "You're right. Let's go."
We went out for dinner and dessert before heading to the main date location. The sun was setting as we were eating dinner, the already cold weather becoming colder. We were dressed warm for the weather, but we still kept close as we walked down the street.
I didn't bring gloves, simply because I just forgot, so my hands were freezing while we were outside. When Mina held my hand, it was a relief. She noticed me rubbing my hands together to stay warm a few seconds earlier so she took one of my hands and held it with hers in her coat pocket.
We were headed to Everland to enjoy the park at night for a few hours. They have special experiences just for the winter and I've never done them before.
It was nice just walking around together, taking in all of the scenery. It was a nice night; the sky was relatively clear and it hadn't snowed in a few days.
I wanted to take some photos together since we didn't have many and I wanted to change that.
We continued walking around until we stumbled upon this quiet spot. It seemed like another photo spot, but it had very ambient lighting and you could hear the slow jazz music from a nearby restaurant.
She posed for another picture and then I put my phone away and held out my hand.
"What are you doing?" She asks, but accepts my hand anyways.
"Can I have this dance?"
She smiles as I pull her close, holding her hand and my other resting on her waist.
She pulls down my scarf to see my face better.
"You always look at me like that." She says.
"Like what?"
"Like you haven't seen me in forever."
I chuckle, "I just like seeing you so much. You're like that with me too."
"Like what?"
"Like you just can't take your eyes off me."
"You're good-looking." She says, "You know that, right?"
"Maybe that's why I can't take my eyes off you either. You're just good-looking." I tease.
She holds my face by my chin, tilting my head down.
"How did I end up with a guy like you?"
"You tell me."
I lean in, closing the gap between us, kissing her slowly. I wanted this to last forever.
"I love you, Mina." I whisper.
"I love you too." She smiles, "Thank you."
"For what?"
"For this date." She says, "I had a lot of fun."
"Good, 'cause there will be more of these in the future. I promise." I kiss her head.
While we waited at the bus stop to go home, snow started to fall. I stood behind Mina, hugging her from the back. She was keeping me warm.
It was kind of a long ride home. Our stop was one of the last ones. I stared out the window the entire time, but Mina fell asleep resting her head on my shoulder. I put my arm around her to make sure she wouldn't bump into the window during the ride.
I had some time to think to myself.
Suddenly, I no longer felt lost.
I always felt like we were moving too fast and I didn't know where I was going.
But now I have a clear image in my head. I know exactly where I want to take this.
It just took me some time to realize it.
