Yume's POV
"Where's the curler?"
"Hurry up! I still have to change too."
The day of the wedding is one of the most important days of someone's life. To be married to the one you loved in front of everyone, letting them know your love for each other. It's amazing.
I listened to my friends' chatter in the back while Hime-senpai....er, Hime-nii-chan does my hair. Yuna was standing in front of a full body mirror, checking out her dress. "Hey, Yume, why did you and Subaru-kun opted for two weddings?" Yuna asked, remembering very well, that after five days is another wedding of us two.
"I want to have a Shinto-style wedding. While Subaru wants to have a Christian-style wedding too. And because the guest list also has some non-Japanese." I reasoned. And yes, the talk about the wedding style got into a small quick argument which ended with us two opting for two kinds of weddings.
"Where are the bridesmaids' flowers?" Mahiru asked as she enters the room. A visible panic was on her face, after all, she helped in picking flowers. "They're downstairs, being handled. It will be handed to us later." Yozora-senpai said, making her younger sister sigh in relief.
"Which clip is better? This or this?" Laura asked, showing two flower clips. One was dark blue and red, the other was dark blue and violet.
"Dark blue and red." Koharu answered as she fixed her contact lenses. "Contacts are so uncomfortable." She commented, frowning that she has to use contacts instead her glasses.
I giggled, "You can always wear your glasses." I said. "But it doesn't go well with her dress." Ako debated with a pout. "Well, you do you. For me, it looks fine." Yuna said casually as she puts on another layer of lipstick.
My friends continued chattering behind me as I looked at my reflection while watching Hime-nii-chan do my hair. After clipping the veil, Hime-nii-chan flipped the extra part of the veil that's hanging behind my head, the translucent veil covering my face.
"You look beautiful." Hime said, kissing my forehead. "Thank you. I never thought things would come this far." I admitted. "Well, I knew." She replied.
"Beautiful!" I heard the gasps behind us. We both turned around, seeing our friends, gazing at me in awe. "So beautiful. Subaru's lucky." Tsubasa said with a smile. "Hooray to the soon to be newlywed!" Yuzu cheered.
A knock on the door was then heard. It opened, revealing Elza in her gown. "The bridesmaids are needed for the aligning when walking down the aisle." She announced, "The maid of honor is also needed." She added, looking at Hime.
Hime smiled, "We'll see you later." She said as she and the rest of the girls left the room with a smile. I waved at them and stared at my reflection again. I watched Miss Elza sit on the couch on the mirror. "Marriage is a wonderful thing." She spoke, "They said it was one of the most important events of someone who's inlove, in their life." She added.
"Why aren't you married yet, Elza-sama?" I asked. "Marriage happens by choice. I just chose not to marry." Elza replied, "People say, at my age I should have a family and be married." She sighed. "But, shouldn't it be this time?" I asked curiously. "Were you forced to marry Subaru?" Elza asked. "No. I chose to." I replied.
Elza smiled, "Exactly. You chose to marry him because?" "I love him." She walks to me and rubs my shoulders, "Marriage is the union of two lovers to be come as one, and everyone, and you can include the ones above too, are witnesses. It's not something to be forced to. And two lovers whom are fated to be with each other shouldn't be separated." She said.
"You sound like hypocrite." I stated with a laugh. "I know. And I'm sorry." Elza said calmly. She then proceeded to walking to the window again, looking outside. "Did you love my father?" I asked.
Silence.
Miss Elza Forte. A beautiful woman with a fiery confidence and passion. I can see her eyes look at mine via the reflection on the mirror. "I do. But only as a friend." She replied, "What I thought was love turns out to be admiration only. That whatever I do, I just love him as a friend." She said.
What?
"The love was just a dead star." Elza stated.
Subaru's POV
Meanwhile....
"I never thought Subaru will look good in a suit." Kanata teased. I frowned at his comment, "I never you'd look good in a bow tie." I spat back making him scowl, as I smirk proudly.
"You and Yume-chan had been through ups and downs." Asahi commented, "But you two are still together." He added. "It just shows they're destined for one another." Nozomu said.
I smiled as I looked at them via reflection of the mirror.
A knock on the door was then heard. "Groomsmen." It was Yume's father, Hikaru, "Along with the best man and the others." He added.
"We'll see you later, Subaru!" Nozomu said as he exited the room with the others. I nodded at them with a smile, now it's just me and my soon to be in-law.
"Mind if we chat?" He asked.
I shook my head, "Not at all." I answered.
He proceeded to walking in as he closed the door. "Marriage. Never thought I would witness it once again." He said, "A lot of people saying, I should get married now." He added. "Why aren't you married?" I asked in curiosity.
"To avoid the feeling of a dead star." He answered firmly.
Dead star?
My friends had just left the room for the aligning at the aisle. Now, Yume's father, Moroboshi Hikaru, is now in front of me. His stern eyes stared at mine as he spoke the word dead star.
"I had experienced it many times at a young age." He said as he sat down at the couch, "The one you thought was love turns out to be admiration." He added.
"Why are you telling me this now?" I asked.
"To let you know, that you and Yume had done a better choice than I did when I was young. Should I tell you?" He asked, in a way of an offer. Normally, I would reject hearing elders' past. But this story sounded tempting to my ears, one where I should hear it for my and Yume's sakes.
I sat on the couch, across the room, that was infront of him. "Please, proceed."
3rd Person POV
"A dead star, when you define it in scientific terms..." Elza trailed off as she looks at Yume.
"It's just a star that had lost its light, what's left is simply the core of the star." Hikaru said to Subaru.
Right now, the two are telling a story from the past. A story where choosing a certain choice caused a huge difference to their lives. That choice wasn't the choice that both Yume and Subaru chose. And Elza & Hikaru wished they were able to choose the option that the two lovebirds chose.
"But in love..." Elza continued.
"A dead star is..." Hikaru trailed off.
"A feeling that was never present at the first place." The two finished, and thus, began their story.
