THE CONTRACT MARRIAGE

CHAPTER 1

Y/N POV

? : Y/N, are you coming or not?

Y/N : Yes, Dad, I'm coming. Wait.

I quickly packed my books, zipped my bag, slung it on my back, and left my room. As I hurried down the stairs, I heard my mom chuckling.

Mom : You little zombie, Eat your food before you leave.

Y/N : Mom, I really don't have time for food. I'm already late. I promise to eat in the cafeteria.

Mom : But-

Dad : Honey, I'll get her something on the way.

Mom : But, honey, make sure this girl eats something.

Y/N : Yes, Mom, I'll eat. Goodbye.

I kissed Mom's cheek before leaving.

I locked my locker after grabbing my book when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to see water splashed on my face by Doyeon and her minions.

Y/N : What's your problem, Doyeon?

Doyeon : Look who's got a tongue to talk back to me.

She grabbed my hair and pulled it, making me squirm.

Doyeon : Listen here, why do you always come with that ugly face of yours?

I didn't respond, just kept my head down.

Doyeon : Cat got your tongue? ANSWER ME!

Y/N : Listen, Doyeon, I don't know why you hate me, but I'm never going to stoop to your level--

*SLAP*

Doyeon : Talking back again? You need to learn a lesson.

She said, kicking me in the stomach. After about two minutes of kicking and slapping, she left with her minions. I managed to get up and make my way to the restroom.

Looking at myself in the mirror, I wondered, Am I really ugly?

Soobin's POV

? : No way, Mom!

Mom : Why, Soobin? Can't you do it for your parents?

Soobin : Mom, I already have a girlfriend!

Mom : Who? Yewon? Why don't you understand that she's not good for you!

Soobin : Mom, I've known her for two years. She's the one I love the most, and I will always love her!

Mom : Listen, Soobin, it's for the growth of our company.

Soobin : Company! Company! Company! You never think about me!

? : Stop shouting, Soobin.

Soobin : Dad, why? Why are you making me marry someone I don't even know?

Dad : It's alright, son. It's just for ten months. You can divorce her after ten months.

Soobin : I'm still not going to marry someone who's not Yewon!

Dad : Soobin, my health has not been well for the past few months. We need someone to take care of the company after me. We are collaborating with The Designare for the growth of our company. Please, son, please listen to us.

Mom : Yes Soobin, and you can divorce after 10 months.

Soobin : I'm only doing this for our company's sake! I have no interest in whoever the girl is, and I will definitely divorce her after these damn ten months, and then I will marry Yewon!

Y/N POV

Y/N : Dad, what are you saying?

Dad : Please, my daughter.

Y/N : But I can't marry someone I don't even know, plus I'm still young.

Dad : Your marriage will be hidden to outsiders. It will be known only to us, his family, and some friendly relatives.

Mom : Y/N, we trust you, and we know that you trust us too. Please, it's just for ten months. You both can divorce after these ten months.

Y/N : Mom, Dad, but--

Dad : We have never asked anything from you, Y/N. Please, just this once, do this for us, our daughter. We love you so much, and we never want any harm to come to you.

Mom : He's a nice guy. His parents are even nicer and understanding.

Y/N : But how can you decide this without even asking me once?

Mom : Sorry, Y/N, but it happened so suddenly.

After thinking for a few minutes, I agreed. I can't disappoint my parents, and they are right; they never asked anything from me, and I can get divorced in ten months. Yet it is disturbing.

Y/N : Alright, Mom and Dad. I'll do it.

Mom : Thank you, Y/N.

Dad : Thank you so much, my daughter.

Mom : We will meet them at six in the evening.

I went to my room and cried hard. I didn't know the reason for these tears, but I just wanted to. A sudden outbreak.

I'm not ready for marriage, and there it is ; I'm getting married.
I got up after crying for a few more minutes, went to the washroom, and took a cool shower.

After a few minutes, I came out, did my routine, and wore a simple dress for the dinner and meeting my soon-to-be fiancé.

I grabbed my bag and took a long breath and mumbled to myself while looking at the mirror.

It's okay Y/N, you just have to meet them. You are not going to be with them for life. It will be nothing but just a Contract Marriage.
