"Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never Is, but always To be blest.
The soul, uneasy, and confin'd from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come."
—Alexander Pope, An Essay on Man

DARYL

Michonne was back for a moment before it became clear that the Governor was on the move. There was no need to fear. Rick's plan was a good one, and the Governor's people weren't soldiers. He'd never see them until it was too late.

REMY

Remy was waiting with Beth, Herschel, Carl, and Judith in the trees beyond the prison. It was cold and they kept the baby bundled tightly. They were lucky that she didn't cry and attract any stray walkers but they didn't have to worry for long.

Bullets ripped through the air and she had to keep a hand on Dax's collar to keep him from running. The gates were smashed. All hell had broken loose, but in a moment it was quiet. And then they saw the boy. And Carl had....he did it but...he didn't have to.

It broke Remy's heart. He was such a young man and already, this world irrevocably damaged him. She prayed she wasn't right. That he hadn't lost an important, human part of himself.

DARYL

The plan went better than they could have expected, but after, the Governor...his own people. Shot dead and left to eat the others. All except one. Daryl didn't know why Rick insisted on letting her live, but he was glad once she helped get them in the gates.

Andrea. Daryl sat outside the room, biting the nails on 3 of his fingers. She was there and she wasn't. Dead. But still alive. Waiting. And then he heard the gunshot.

What is the point of it all??

The group buried her her. Of course they did. And of course, Rick with his savior complex, took in the people of Woodbury. The Governor was still missing, he and a few of his men. But they'd find him. Daryl couldn't even think of what he would do to him when they found him. For Merle and for everyone they had lost. But they still had each other.

Michonne left as soon as they got back. Daryl had gone with her but the trail was cold, so he returned to help Rick with the new people. They couldn't lose anyone else. Daryl couldn't lose anyone else.

REMY

Dax was excited about new people. Especially more kids. Woodbury had quite a few. Everyone had pulled together well. Fields were finally sown, new cell blocks were cleared for residents, they even had running water! It always amazed the woman what people can do when they come together.

Remy still had her worries. Rick was more withdrawn than ever. He seemed to lose himself among the rows of cucumbers and tomatoes.

Daryl on the other hand had surprised her. The once surly man had gone out of his way on more than one occasion to bring folk into the fold. He continued to help feed everyone. He even made small talk. She knew that his pain was still there, but he was choosing to heal. That was probably the reason she decided, while watching him chat with an elderly woman, to bring him an idea she'd been toying with for some time.

"Hey! Got a minute?"

"...shoot."

"Ok, so remember when we got the boar?"
