When in Rome

In the throes of the arena

blood and sand crest the mouth

High up on the podium of virtue

stood the brave and devout

A pound of flesh for freedom

the whip in dominant hand

Hysteria coated spears

entertaining many a man

In the name of the Gods

blood flowed like oil

Lubricating the will to survive

Legends were born

Legends were torn

shredded by lions

Ended by the thumb

that sits on sadistic throne
