Chapter 2: Cheerleadin' or Dancin'

2 days later at the studio, it was a new week and the ALDC was preparing for a new week, Brookie had a solo named Bumblebee and Cooper had a solo named Cool and the group was known as Ups and Downs.

On thursday, it was 2 days before the competition and Cooper finished rehearsing his solo and he was in Studio A sitting next to Abby as they watched the group rehearsal. Then at one point, Kelly came downstairs to talk to Abby about something.

"Mom, i'll head in the Dancer's Den and let you and Kelly talk." Cooper told Abby, noticing Kelly.

"All right." Abby said as Cooper got up and headed to the Dancer's Den as Kelly looked over at him.

"Hey, Coop." Kelly greeted.

"Hey, Kelly." Cooper responded as he headed into the Dancer's Den.

"Brooke is in the acro dance." Abby replied.

"She is not at the top of the pyramid for the week for an acro dance, which is her forte?"

"Kelly, no disrespect or anything, but it is because she is always miserable and brooding. That's not the Brooke that i know." Abby pointed out.

"She is on the lower level, you mean Chloe is above her in the pyramid in Gymnastics dances?" Kelly complained. "When does Brooke head on stage and not pull it off? She always does that. The Brooke you know nowadays is a teenager and she's changing."

"Well, you've got to nip that in the bud, because you don't want her to change.

"Maybe Brooke wants to do teenage things."

"I do not think that is easy because i'm seeing the changes already and it is saddening me. I know you are happy with your life, you have a wonderful house and a wonderful family, but think about what may have been, Kelly. You settled and you're letting Brooke do the same thing." Abby said.

"If my mom told me i had to come to dance class, i would've rebelled against her." Kelly retorted. "I mean they're kids, Abby."

"Brooke is 13 years old." Abby stated.

"Cheerleading, she's got all her friends from school that cheer. So i believe that is why Brooke wants to--"

"So, you're going to send Brooke to cheerleading so she can shake her pom-poms for some boy to go to college for free? Forget it." Abby simply said as Kelly went back up to the observation room and Cooper came from the Dancer's Den.

"Everything all right?" Cooper asked.

"Yeah, Kelly was griping about Brooke being on the lower level of the pyramid even though acro is her forte and she told me that Brooke wants to do cheerleading. I put my foot down as every dancer in my studio and you have a gift." Abby answered.

"We sure do. When i reach 13, i'm keeping my passion for dance as i love it." Cooper commented.

"Great idea." Abby high fived him.

An hour later, group rehearsals continued and when Brooke was doing her contortion tricks, she was in pain as Cooper could tell.

"Something is up with Brooke." Cooper said to Abby.

"Yeah, looks like something is hurting her. I bet it's her hip" Abby added.

"Yeah."

Abby looked at Brooke "Brooke, what's going on?"

"My hip hurts and it's inflamed." Brooke winced, weeks prior, she had hurt her hip and it was inflamed, Abby suggested she head upstairs and inform her mother, which she did. "Mom, my hip is still hurting."

"Do you want me to check and see if i can take you over to the chiropractor real quick?" Kelly suggested as the moms looked concerned.

"What's the matter?" Hollie asked.

"It's her hip and ankle."

A day later, Kelly took Brooke to the chiropractic and told Dr. Kyle Ross, who is the chiropractic about the issue and he suggested that Brooke sit out the competition, but Kelly told him that they had to compete.

That weekend, the Abby Lee Dance Company arrived in Vorhees, New Jersey, the location of Starbound and there, Brookie got 1st in Petite Soloist Division with Bumblebee, Cooper got 1st in the Junior Soloist Division with Cool and the girls got 1st in the junior group division with Ups and Downs.
