overthinking

her mind swirled round in a circular motion with the same thought continuously appearing. the gnawing feeling in her stomach would not leave as she stared at the same four coloured walls accustomed too. the aching in her brain as, once again, the same question was being queried.

his baggy clothes consumed her as she began to focus her wandering mind on something more interesting. at first it started with the tv, flipping through the channels that were on offer before settling on an old show's repeats, which soon became a bore, and thus the tv was no longer a distraction.

a book was the next thing to occupy her mind. a tale about a man and a woman, love dancing all around them until heartbreak approached. the man, led astray from the women he called his heart, the woman, dispirited by the man she called her whole. as she neared this part in the book, she stopped. the comparison overwhelming her and thus the book was no longer a distraction.

running out of ideas, she decided to wait. she decided to wait to see if her mind was right all along. she decided to wait and see if he was truly a man of his word. she decided to wait and see if his love was real or if, just like in the previous tale she had read, he would be led astray and leave her to piece herself back together.

she played with the strands of hair that escaped her messily done pony tail and locked eyes with the same dark blue door she had seen him leave out of approximately two hours ago. her long nails were no more as they had been chewed away due to the nervousness that shook around her whole body. all that was left was a thin white line and some dried up blood caused by her newly unbraced teeth.

a click of the door sounded the dimly lit room which caused her head to shoot up at lightning speed, but not fast enough to cause serious damage. in he walked with his bright smile, showing his pearly whites and his visible dimples. his winter coat clinging to his body and his vibrant blue eyes met her soft ones.

with minimum steps, he engulfs her in a tight embrace with his head digging into the crook of her neck. his arms travelled around her waist with a slight squeeze while her hands played with the small hairs on the back of his neck. light whispers could be heard from the man as he started swaying his lover.

he pulled his head away to meet with her eyes. she stared at him, her heart telling her to lean in and to kiss the soft, familiar lips she had grown to love. however, her head was screaming at her to do something else: to check. to check that he had kept the promise that he had made to her all them years ago from when they were first together. she needed to check that her heart was not going to be shattered into as pieces, pieces that she thought could never be healed again. she nee-

his hand found it's way to her cheek, turning her face so that he can they eye contact he thought he was deprived of. his accented voice reached out to her to ask if she was ok. nothing more than a soft 'i'm fine' was heard from her mouth. he accepted this and took that as an opportunity to lean in. her thoughts were exactly the same until her eyes travelled to somewhere else.

with a sunken heart, she assessed the mark to see the print of pink lips smudged on the right side of his neck. her eyes stung with tears but refused to let them drop in front of him. she focused her eyes back on the man who had his eyes closed and lips pouted slightly.

a shaky sigh left her as she she pecked his lips, which now felt wrong as she thought about how someone else had been in her position with him tonight. his blue eyes opened and he grinned at the internally broken girl. he placed his lips on her temple before moving up stairs to clean himself.

after hearing the shower start running, the girl took slow strides to the sofa and curled up into a ball. the tears she wouldn't show him were now dripping down the sides of her red cheeks. sadness and embarrassment were the emotions that clashed with the extreme rage she felt.

instead of storming up to him and demanding him to leave the property, she slept. but by no means was it a peaceful sleep, it was a sleep of realising, realising that a man she thought she had called her whole was led astray, realising that she had been right all along. now he'll have to live with the guilt that he had lost the person he called his heart. and she'll have to live with the broken pieces she refused to put back together. their tale had ended with two broken hearts.

A/N: this is my first time writing a book with little to no dialogue so how do you think it was? also i love havertz and i don't think he'd actually cheat. my aim is to make you readers think of these players as someone other than themselves so how do you think i did?

i hope you liked the first chapter :)
