The nurse came in with a bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. The squeak of the door woke me up. I looked around to see Parker sitting next to my bedside. I ate slowly, I have to admit, it made me uncomfortable that Parker was staring at me. The nurse came back in after I was done eating.
"You can go home tomorrow, only you will have to stay with someone." She glanced to Parker. I guess Parker saw that I was tense.
" It doesn't have to be me.." Parker whispered.
"I don't want to end up in the bathroom floor again..." He nodded. " If I want to leave, I will and you will have to let me." I said eyeing him. " And don't think about any funny business."
A smile crept up on his face " I promise to obey your strict law." He said trying to get a reaction out of me. And for the first time in what felt like forever, I laughed.
