On an early sunny Sunday morning in London Charlotte Blanchet was selling all of her fresh fruits and vegetables at Small Heath market. She had recently moved to Birmingham from France and was desperate to find work as soon as possible.
It was a weekly routine on a Sunday for Charlotte to sell the luscious fruits and vegetables but for the rest of the week, Charlotte worked at the local hospital/surgery.Being one of the pupils who were at the top of there class and passed every exam, Charlotte could have been a very successful woman. Working at the surgery was most definitely something Charlotte was proud of, she just didn't think she would be a nurse in Birmingham.
After moving to Birmingham from France after her parents passed, it was extremely hard for Charlotte to find a job that was recruiting, luckily just by chance the only job that was hiring at the moment was to work as a nurse... Charlotte was delighted when she got the job it had been a dream for her to help the people. For the extra money she worked at the market wich she also adored.Mrs Audrey Bamford an extremely wealthy woman, married to Londons top 10 richest man, was a weekly buyer for Charlotte. Mrs Bamford bagged her fresh vegetables and colourful fruits and got out her expensive bag and handed Charlotte the correct amount of money with £5 extra wich Charlotte was always grateful for. Mrs Bamford helped settle Charlotte into Birmingham quite quickly and also was one of the only people who had showed Charlotte that there was a job recruitment in the surgery. What Charlotte could never comprehend was why the loaded woman was still living in Birmingham if she and her husband were full of money.
"Have you heard of the new job a few doors down from you Charlotte. This gang needs a secretary and the pay is supposed to be incredible. You should tell some of the girls who come here to try out for it!" Announced Mrs Bamford. The English woman was always proud of Charlottes job at the surgery and was overjoyed when she got the job.
"Of course Audrey i'm sure a lot of girls would love the idea although a gang what gang i've never heard of a gang round here before " Replied Charlotte with a sweet smile on her face trying her hardest to block out the word gang after her past tragedies.
"I'd rather not worry you about this gang, they call themselves the Peaky Blinders but just watch your back i'll see you soon love"
Charlotte went along her day as usual and carried on selling the fruits and veg and saying hello to friendly faces.
A few hours went by as people bought her food and by 10:30am there was only empty rattan baskets left. Charlotte quickly closed up her stall to go home for the afternoon and to take a well deserved rest.
