Chapter one | First day

I danced along with the music, in front of my mirror as I applied some clear lipgloss into my lips "Val!" I heard my mom yell from downstairs "Yes!?" I yelled back screwing the lid back on "You're already gonna be late for your first day" She explained, that I turned my phone on and saw what time it was

"Shit" I whispered. I put my phone in the back pocket of my jeans and grabbed my school bag, I marched down the stairs making my mom scream at me to slow down "Sorry!" I apologized and quickly grabbed my car keys closing the door behind me

I speed walked to my car and went to the driver's seat placing my bag beside me in the passenger's seat. I turn the engine on turning the ac to low. I fully closed the car door and began backing up my car from the parking lot into the road and made my way to my new school. I'm nervous I'll admit but not as bad as you think.

I stopped at a red light next to a different car full of girls taking off their sweaters, I looked away from them and looked beside me and saw a boy with curly hair on his bike next to a stop sign, he looks right back at me making me turn back right ahead, from that glance I had with him, he was cute. I looked through the rear mirror and saw a red car behind me full of jocks. In the corner of my eyes, I saw the boy look at them as well.

I look ahead again and saw the light turn green pressing the gas, driving off to school. I made it to the parking lot and quickly found a spot. I grabbed my bag and went out of the car, I slammed the door shut and looked around the place

Some were fixing their cars, selling drugs, and doing all kinds of things I would never do. I grabbed into the straps of my bag and went inside the school. I was behind the guy that was at the stop with his bike and staring at me. He went to bend down and get a quarter but couldn't

"Cal, it's glued down" I heard a female voice beside me, I look to the side and saw a girl with dirty blonde hair. I look at the pillar and saw a guy leaning on it, once he saw me look at him and went and kick the curly-haired boy knocking down his stuff.

"Ronnie, you're an idiot," the girl said, the boy name Cal picked his stuff up, sticking his middle finger up at the guys on the stairs. I rolled my eyes, I looked down and saw a wrapper, I kneeled down and grabbed it. It was a condom. I tilt my head to the side and smirked, I stuffed the condom in my jeans pocket. I stood back up kicking the glued quarter while trying to make my way to the office to get my schedule. I heard the guys 'boo' at me

"Excuse me," I said behind the dirty blonde from earlier "Can you show me the way to the office?" I asked politely "Um yeah sure. I want to skip my class anyways" She explained making me laugh, "Don't we all" I shake my head

"I'm Cecily" She held her hand out for me to shake it, I grabbed it and shook it "Valerie, but you can call me Val"

"Nice to meet you," Cecily says as we made our way to the office "You as well" I nodded, we made it to the office pretty quickly since it wasn't far

"I'll wait for you here," Cecily said standing by the door "Okay, I'll be back" I smiled and went through the office doors

"What can I do for you?" The lady behind the desk asked "I'm new here and I need a schedule" I explained interlocking my fingers together "Alright. Name?"

"Valerie Devlin"

"I'll be right back," The lady says walking off, I simply nodded and rocked back and forth with my feet, I looked behind me and saw Cecily still there. At least she's truthful about staying there. I turned my head to the side hearing some footsteps
