CHAPTER THREE
──── ☠ ────
plans and revelations

𝓘t was daytime back at Port Royal and only now was Will waking from the hit on the head he had gotten hours ago. He winched at the slight pain he felt as he moved to stand. And from where he was, he could see ships out in the bay bellowing with smoke. But there was no sign of any pirates in or around the port anymore. It was finally quiet. Hours had passed since the pirates had left and the residents in the port had woken up and chosen to try and repair what had been broken. Some were sweeping the grounds around their homes whilst others were using what they had to fix windows, doors, or fences that kept their chickens in. Will then remembered what he had seen before he was knocked out and picked up his axe from the ground before rushing to the fort, where he knew the people he needed to talk to would be.

He got there as quick as he could and managed to get inside. He made his way to the open area, where James had his ceremony only yesterday. The fort was as messy as the port, with some marines nursing wounds whilst others tried to fix the cannons. Will noticed Governor Swann and James looking over a map with a number of marines around them, so he immediately went over.

"They've taken them. Alice and Elizabeth, they've taken them." Will informed, but James didn't look up from the map.

"Mr. Murtogg, remove this man." James ordered, and the named soldier walked over to Will to remove him. It was the same solider from the dock that had to drop Elizabeth's corset. But Will resisted Murtogg's pulls for him to leave.

"We have to hunt them down. We must save them."

"And where do you suppose we start?" Governor Swann stepped foreword and asked. "If you have any information concerning my daughter, please share it." Will stayed silent, making Governor Swann sigh before he turned away from him.

"That Jack Sparrow." Murtogg the marine spoke up. "He talked about the Black Pearl."

"Mentioned it is more what he did." Another marine, Murtogg's friend that was also at the dock then spoke.

"Ask him where it is." Will said to James. "Make a deal with him. He could lead us to it."

"No." James wasn't shy to shut the idea down before he finally looked to Will. "The pirates who invaded this port left Sparrow in his cell. Ergo, they are not his allies." He then turned to Governor Swann to address him. "Governor, we will establish their most likely course-"

Murtogg once again tried to take Will away from the fort, but Will roughly took his arm back and swung his axe into the map and table. "That's not good enough!" He exclaimed.

"Mr Turner-" James took the axe out of the table and started to walk to Will's side. "you are not a military man, you are not a sailor. You are a blacksmith, and this is not the moment for rash actions!" He pulled Will to the side and lowered his voice so only he could hear him. "Do not make the mistake of thinking you are the only man here who cares for Elizabeth and Alice. And I will assure you now, just because Elizabeth is a priority does not mean we forget about Alice. She is a respected member of the Governors household, and more importantly, she's my friend as well as yours." He then shoved Will's axe back into his hands before walking back to the map.

Most people would have let the trained people do their jobs, but Will certainly was not one of those people. He had had enough of sitting back and taking what was thrown at him. He was ready and willing to do whatever he must to save both Elizabeth and Alice. And what he was willing to do was make a deal with a caged up pirate.

Down in the cells, the caged up pirate Jack Sparrow was trying his damned hardest to use a bone he had carved to unlock the door to his cell. He twisted the carved end as best he could into the keyhole, but no matter how hard he tried, the lock didn't want to budge. He was stopped when he heard the sound of a door opening from above, making him jump back and leave the bone in the keyhole. He laid on the dirty and hay covered floor of his cell before Will came down the steps and right to his cell door.
