20- Love Wins

Alissa Moore's Point of View:

1 year later

After we got engaged we went straight to the palace to tell his parents. Rafe didn't want to but I insisted. I video called my parents on the way and gave them the good news.

"Mom Dad," Rafe called out to his parents as we walked into the house.

"Honey what's wrong?" his mom asked as she rushed into the room her steps halted when she saw me.

"Oh Alissa darling!" she squealed as she strolled over to me and pulled me in for a tight hug.

"I'm assuming that you knew about this?" Rafe posed the question when his mom pulled away from the hug.

"A mother always knows," she smirked.

"That and she makes it her business to know everything," his dad walked into the room and wrapped a hand around her waist.

"Why didn't you tell me I was going to meet Lissa... I would've gone without resistance"

"Well I wanted to tell you but the women wanted you to be surprised"

"And its payback for not telling her the truth in the first place," his mom rolled her eyes.

Rafe held up his hands in surrender, "I deserved that"

"I have a question though what would have happened if Alissa and I didn't meet on our own and you forced us to get married and we ended up hating each other?"

His father laughed, "why do you think I sent you to America that week?"

"Wait you couldn't have known that we'd run into each other"

"Your right about that but her father knew that she wouldn't accept being in an arranged marriage and when she's upset there's one place that she always goes to. Did you think Joe lead you there by accident?"

Rafe looked at me in disbelief at what he was hearing. Our entire meeting was orchestrated by our parents and although I hated the idea I couldn't deny that they had led me right into the arms of the love of my life.

"What are you thinking about?" he walked up to me engulfing me in his arms.

"Our whirlwind beginning," I told him honestly.

He chuckled, "it was a crazy time"

He ran his hand down my stomach and my heart raced slightly as I thought about the news that I had to give him. I was feeling a bit under the weather and went to the doctor for my regular checkup when she gave me the news, I was pregnant. Taking a deep breath to not alert him and steadied my breathing.

"How about you go into the other room and get ready so that I can do the same," I told him as I continued to work on my makeup"

"Or we could find something a little more entertaining to do?" he whispered as he trailed kisses down my neck.

I fought off my body's reaction to his advances because I knew that if we were to start anything we wouldn't make it to dinner. I wanted to tell him about the baby today so this would have to wait until we got back.

"Baby stop we're going to be late," I paused what I was doing so that I could look at him "plus I have a surprise for you"

"Can't you just give it to me and let me take you to bed?" he groaned as he pulled away. '

I pouted, "I'm sorry baby... I promise I'll make it up to you"

"You better," he walked out of the room mumbling to himself.

I took the opportunity to quickly finish my makeup and get dressed. I wore a brown knitted sweater dress because it was a bit chilly out and I didn't want to catch a cold especially now. I looked down to see my phone vibrating and saw that it was Bri calling. I picked it up and answered right away.

"Have you told him yet?"

"No, I haven't," I already told Bri and Kathy that I was pregnant but I swore them to secrecy until I got the chance to tell Rafe.

"Oh come on sis you have to tell him...I can't keep this a secret for much longer," she groaned lowly...as you can tell she's been struggling with keeping this a secret. It's barely been a week.

"Jeez," I laughed "I'm telling him today so you don't have to worry about keeping it a secret for much longer, and remember I want to tell mom and dad myself"

"Yeah yeah...I just don't want to be one of the only ones who know so hurry up and let me know if you're still coming for new years "

I rolled my eyes when she hung up. She's been asking me if we would be going to America when it was New Year but I wasn't sure. Rafe had to make a speech new years day for the public but I'm sure it could be done anywhere since it was being pre-recorded.

"Hey baby you ready?" Rafe walked in and stopped in his tracks when he saw me.

"Oh wow"

"You like what you see?"

"I love what I see," he pecked me on the lips "I can't wait to peel this off of you later"

My face grew red at his words, "whatever you say baby let's go before I take you up on your offer"

The grin never left his face as he moved his hand from behind him to reveal a jewelry box.

"I got you something," he told me as he handed the box to me.

"Oh baby thank you so much," inside the box was a beautiful charm bracelet with three charms already attached to it.

He took it out of the box and put it on me, "the flag is to represent America since its the first place we met...the Eiffel Tower is for France where we fell in love and the park chair is for the park where you agreed to be mine"

I blinked rapidly to fight off the tears, "it's beautiful...thank you so much, baby"

"Happy anniversary my love"

"I have something for you too"

"You didn't have to get me, anything baby"

"Oh stop it of course I did," I pulled out the bag and handed it to him. He was now sitting at my vanity table with the gift in hand.

He took out the tissue paper and tossed it to one side to reveal what I had gotten him. He pulled out the extra small mittens and held them up where I could see them. I could already see that he was confused.

"Thank you baby but I think these are a bit too small for me"

"They're not for you silly"

"Who are they for then?" if he wasn't getting the hint I put a picture of my sonogram in the bag so he could look at it.

"There's one more thing in the bag it'll explain what the mittens are for"

He reached in pulling out the sonogram. I stood there nervous as his eyes widened at the sight of the sonogram.

"By the time Christmas rolls around next year we'll be able to take him or her to the park and show them where all of this started"

"We're having a baby," he breathed deeply. I nodded not sure of his reaction.

"We're having a baby," he screamed as he pulled me into his arms with tears of joy running down his face.

Our love story started so differently when compared to others but I wouldn't have it any other way.
