Chapter 12: The Green Ninja

The next morning, you awoke with a peace of mind you didn't have last night. Opening the door to your cage was probably a good thing. And the moon goddess, well, meeting her was an interesting dream you had. Although it was just a dream. Nothing more than that.

'Good morning, [Name].'

That was only denial coming from you. For Tohru's voice echoed in your head. You stiffend, kicking the sheets off your body and pressing your back against the wall. The sun was streaming in through the window now, lifting up bits of dust where you should've cleaned.

'Are you done spasming now?' Tohru asked.

"How are you doing that?" you said.

'Easy, I can communicate with you because we share a body,' Tohru said. 'Another way of saying it is that I'm a voice in your head when I am not taking over your body.'

"That's a little weird," you sighed. "But okay."

'Communicate through your thoughts from now on,' Tohru instructed. 'I don't want the other elemental masters to think you're going mad.'

"I already think I'm going mad at this moment," you looked around you, realizing that the room was empty. Nya either woke up early, or you slept in. The latter was probably the most plausible option. You got up and went down the halls of the bounty, hearing many voices from your father's quarters.

Was Wu back with help already? You stepped closer to the door, finding that it was wide open. Inside were the boys. Cole, Zane, and Jay were nearing the outer rim of the room while Kai was in the center. His normal red gi was replaced with green.

"The Green Ninja's gi?" Jay said. "That's so cool!"

"Um, I was trying to find some kind of clue from sensei, and I stumbled upon it," Kai defended himself.

"But only the prophesied one is to wear that," Zane said. "Sensei will most likely be very-"

"I know, I know," Kai looked out the window. "But I thought if I just tried it on, then something would happen. It's not fair that all of you have unlocked your true potential. [Name] did it last night like it was nothing."

"What?!" the other three boys gasped, and you were caught listening in on their conversation.

'Prepare for many questions,' Tohru said.

"You're awake?!" Jay said.

"My calculations said you would be awake around then," Zane said. "Perhaps that time window was just enough for her to unlock it."

"How did you even do it?!" Cole asked.

You and Kai flinched. From what you saw, he didn't blab your secret thoughts of dying to the others. Thank goodness for that. You thought he wouldn't be so reliable about this sort of thing. Although, you should've known there were going to be questions on how you discovered your true potential. It's a shame you didn't have a list of excuses with you.

"I don't remember," you said. "I was just so tired that it was all a blur."

Kai let out a silent sigh.

"Strange. That should be important to remember," Zane said.

"Y'know, let's just forget about that. If she can't remember then she can't," Kai quickly tried to cover up the open wound that was this secret. "We don't even know when Sensei is coming back. That's what we should focus on-"

The door down the hall opened, and out called the voice of your father.

"I'm back!" he said.

"Father!" you beamed.
