an unpleasant doctor visit

It was a regular day in Maretime Bay when the young colt Sprout spent his day playing with figures in his rooms. As usual he liked to play rough and make up interesting stories around pony fights. This was until his mom knocked on the door and entered his room. The small colt immediately stopped playing and looked up at his mother with expectancies. Phyllis grew a soft smile on her lips upon her seeing her son. "Sugarcube, it's time for your doctor visit", she spoke softly. The colt immediately made a bothered face and stuck his tongue out. "Bleh, but I'm not sick!", he said and got up on his hooves. Phyllis kept her smile as she watched him. "I know, dear, and I wanna keep it like that". Phyllis turned around and went back out her son's room. "Come, hun, we don't wanna be late". "Eh", the annoyed colt spoke as he kicked his toys over and galloped after his mother. As usual he liked to be adventurous, so he played along the way and galloped ahead, whatsoever didn't enter the office without his mother's attendance. The colt walked by his mother's side as he watched closely what she and the others were talking about. They were directed to a waiting room, where he was met with many different ponies, most of them visibly sick of course. He cringed when he saw the filly close to him sneeze big globs of slime that were hanging off its nose. He scooted a little closer to his mother as he tried avoiding the sick and annoying filly next to him. It didn't take long until his mother's name was called in; she had a huge business and good contacts, if she wanted to be first, she would be. Phyllis got up and walked over to the door of the waiting room, holding it open, doing only a head motion for her son to follow. Again he stood closely to her legs as he looked around and didn't quite know what to expect. He's probably been there before but couldn't remember as he was even smaller than he was currently; nonetheless, he knew all well what a doctor was. The two ponies were directed to a smallish room that had the colt look around and inspect its surroundings. The smell of sanitizer immediately filled his nostrils which gave him an uneasy feeling. Quickly he went back to his mother's side as he seemed to be almost squished to her; something about this situation felt not alright to him. Phyllis didn't seem to pay too much attention as she waited for the doctor to come in and have a talk with him first. The colt didn't really know what they were talking about, he just hoped they wouldn't put weird things up his throat or nose, yak. Shortly after his eyes found the needled tool in the hooves of the doctor which had him instantly shoot into panic. He pulled his ears back as he quickly went behind his mother. Phyllis smiled as she looked at her son and gently pushed him back forward. "Don't worry sugarcube, it's gonna be quick". He didn't really care if it was quick or not, that thing looked scary and would probably hurt, so as soon as he was infront of her, he was back her again. Phyllis grabbed her son and held him up, much to his displeasure as he started struggling against his mother's grip. "Dear, it's gonna be fine", she spoke to him, hoping to comfort her scared little son. Among all the struggles, Sprout's eyes were locked with the doctor again who just came closer and closer with that sharp thing in his hooves. He bit his teeth as he started to yell. "Mom?... mom?!... mom!". The panicked foal struggled against his mother again as he managed to slip out of her grip. He ran around the room, tripping over on the smooth flooring as he made his way out the room. Both the adults watched him make his escape as Phyllis gave a smile to the doctor which quickly vanished again. "I'll get him", she spoke as she walked after her son, probably annoyed with the situation already. The colt ran around the small building as he kicked over plants and other things in his way accidentally. He didn't care, he just wanted to be away from that thing. Eventually he found a hiding place somewhere behind the information desk, much to the surprise of the mare sitting at the desk having a crouching foal between her legs. "Sugarcube~", his mom shanted as she walked around the building. "Be a nice boy and come over here. I'll go buy you pizza afterwards". The colt felt only even more scared the closer his mom's voice came, eventually dashing away and straight out the door. Phyllis sighed with an annoyed expression as she watched her son run away once more and walked after him, yet stood her place infront of the building. "Sprout!", she shouted all so sternly now, her voice immediately having the scared colt stop his runaway and look back at her with folded back ears. "I said come back here, right now!", she stomped her left front hoof on the ground to emphasize her seriousness. The colt was unsure if he wanted to keep running away or listen to his mother, however he couldn't help but actually walk back up to her with his head held low. Phyllis kept her stern expression until her son was back by her place, pushing him back inside gently by the flank. Sprout stood squished to his mother's legs, not leaving just by an inch as he was led back to the room he had just ran away from. The doctor looked at the small colt with a warm smile, yet that didn't change anything as he immediately avoided his look by squishing himself further behind his mom. "Dear, come", Phyllis said as she grabbed her son again and held him up in her front legs. The scared colt locked his eyes with that of the doctor and tightly hugged his mother in fear afterwards. Phyllis gently stroked his mane in comfort. "Now, who's my brave boy?", she spoke with a smile as the colt sniffled and rubbed one of his eyes. "I am". "And brave ponies aren't scared of the doctor or are they?", she consoled him, having her son nod unsurely. "Now, show me how big and strong you already are", she spoke to him with a big smile. The colt did feel his heart rise from her words and couldn't help but smile as well, yet that didnt make him less uncomfortable. He looked back at the doctor when he came closer again and grabbed one of his hind legs. The colt once more bit his teeth and hid his face in his mother's fur as he tried to be as big and strong as she said he was. Gently straightening the colt's leg, the doctor held onto his flank and carefully inserted the needle into it at a 90° angle. The stinging pressure had the small Pony hold onto his mother even tighter and tense up his leg in response, however as soon as the needle had broken his skin, the stinging became less and he managed to relax his leg again a bit more. The injection itself was done quickly and finished by the words "there we go, thats it", by the doctor quicker than expected. Phyllis smiled. "Now, that wasn't so bad, was it?", she asked her son as she tried to hold him again, only to find he's holding onto her like a vice. She pulled on him a few times "Sprout, sugarcube. It's over", until he finally let go eventually. The colt looked at his mother and right back at the doctor as he was set down on the floor. He looked at his hind leg as he rubbed over it, doing a little limp as he squished himself back to his mother's legs. "Thank you", Phyllis said to the doctor before making her way out with her probably mildly traumatized son. Sprout limped after her yet didn't waste a single second longer in that building than he had to. Once outside, walking by his mother, he couldn't help but put a lot of focus on his hurting flank. "Mommy, it hurts", he whined to her, only to be greeted with a kiss on his cheek and a warm smile in response. "It's gonna be better soon, I promise". The colt looked up at his mother with an equally as warm smile as he felt proud and happy for making his mom proud of him. Despite his hurting leg, he trotted his way infront again as before.
