Y/N was finally out of her 'newborn' phase and life at the castle couldn't be better. Her and Alec had grown so much closer than she had ever imagined and she finally understood what the others had told her whilst she was human, vampires feel the mate bond more intensely than humans, that vampires love more deeply than humans and lastly, that vampires are more protective of their loved ones than humans.

Y/N's gift had also improved over the last year and this saw her join the Elite Guards on a few missions, something she enjoyed and Alec was positively beaming with pride over. "Well done my love" He praised her after she was able to keep a set of rogues in her sight as they tried their best to evade Demetri's tracking abilities, her teleportation and shield working to her and Demetri's advantage "Yes, Well done Cinders" Demetri added smiling.

Alec and Demetri were planning something special and romantic for their mates, Y/N and Ness respectively, although neither male knew what the other had planned as they both kept their plans a secret from everyone in the castle.

Alec had arranged a little get-a-way to Paris for himself and Y/N. She had mentioned once that she had always wanted to go to Paris, something she never got the chance to do as she met Alec and became a vampire after graduating from High School.

Alec took Y/N to the Eiffel Tower and they made their way to the top so they could admire the view before them. Alec surprised Y/N when he got down on one knee, taking her left hand in his and looked up at her "Y/N I feel so lucky to have you in my life and I love you more than I ever thought possible. I couldn't imagine my life without you in it so...will you spend forever by my side as my wife?" Y/N's eyes filled with tears and her other hand was on her chest as she nodded "Yes, yes" She replied low. Alec smiled and slipped the Diamond and Amethyst ring onto her finger before standing up and capturing her lips with his. The people around them started clapping and multiple "Congratulations" filled the air. "I love you Alec" "I love you too." He kissed her again, wrapping an arm around her.

Demetri had planned his proposal to Ness down to the last detail, he was leaving nothing to chance. He had even arranged to meet Edward in Seattle two weeks before when he was in Canada for a lone mission. "Hi Edward, thank you for meeting with me" "Hi Demetri, that's ok. Is everything ok with Ness?" He asked a little concerned "Yes, she's great. She's settled into the castle nicely; I think having Y/N and Alec around helped with that" Demetri replied and Edward nodded "Is everything ok between you both?" "Yes, we're doing really well actually. That's why I wanted to meet with you. I have something I want to ask you..." Edward smiled knowingly despite not having read the tracker's thoughts "...As you know Ness and I are mates and I love her more than anything, she's my entire world..." Just talking about her made him smile "...I was hoping you would give me your blessing to marry her" Edward thought for a moment and chuckled "What?" "I can't believe you're asking me if you can marry my daughter, I mean you're older than I am and that custom wasn't around when you were human" Demetri chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck "Maybe not, but the custom was around when you were human and it's one I thought you'd appreciate me honouring" "I do appreciate you asking me and of course I give you my blessing and I'm sure Bella would agree. I mean there isn't another man out there I'd rather see her with" Demetri smiled wider and shook Edward's hand "Thank you Edward. I will continue to love and protect her forever" "I know you will" Edward responded, a big smile on his face too.

Demetri had planned a trip to Sorrento, Italy for himself and Ness as he knew how much she liked to be by the sea and that she wanted to visit Pompei, which was nearby. Sorrento came to life of an evening too, the different bars and restaurants lit up and if you stood overlooking the sea you could see across to the other side of the island and the lights of the properties there. "It's so romantic here" Ness' soft voice reached his ears and he smiled "It is and I have a surprise for you" He took her hand in his and led to down onto the beach, walking hand in hand until they came to a secluded area. Ness gasped when she saw the blanket laid out before them and a vase full of the brightest red roses she'd ever seen. They took a seat on the blanket and Demetri picked up what looked a bottle of red wine. He poured some of the liquid into the glasses that Ness was holding and the rich aroma of A Negative blood hit both of their senses. He placed the bottle back in the basket and took a glass from her, she leant forward and kissed him soundly on the mouth "I love you Demi" "I love you too Ness."
