The sugar part of the arrangement was finally coming into play.

Patrick surprised you with a shopping trip in Manhattan. You were spoiled with a new purse, jewelry, and he even helped you pick out a few dresses for future nights out. It was overwhelming, to say the least.

Having the power to ask for anything and more than likely receive it, was the greatest thing you could think of.

You were in the last store of your shopping trip when Paul's comment crossed your mind again. It resonated with you, despite how baseless it was. You wanted to ask him about it but you were scared of what he would think. Will he think that you were desperate? He would probably think that you wanted a real relationship.

Although you knew what you signed up for, you didn't just want to be the girl he chooses to fuck whenever he pleased. You could just be overthinking, perhaps Patrick was being sincere when he took you out and this is all just your insecurities. But even when you saw Evelyn, you questioned how he viewed you. Evelyn looked so put together; expensive clothing and her hair done up neatly as opposed to you in the dress that he bought you.

Tired of the conflict going on in your head, you decided to ask him and maybe get some closure. While you were trying on a few tops, you called out to Patrick who was sitting behind the curtain.

"How often do you go to Pastels?" you asked. You probably should've taken a different approach, but you struggled to come up with the right words.

"Pastels?" he asked. He knew what you were talking about, he just didn't understand why you were talking about it.

"Yeah, the restaurant you took me to Monday night," you said. It was silent for a moment as he thought of an answer.

"I don't go often unless I'm with some of the guys, why?" he replied. You stared at yourself in the mirror and cringed before responding.

"Well, after you took me home, Paul said something and it kind of threw me off."

"What did he say?" you heard him ask, the disgust evident in his voice.

"He just said that Pastels is somewhere you take hookers." You anxiously waited for his response.

"Paul doesn't know his head from his ass," he commented. You narrowed your eyes at the insult. Moments later the curtain opened and Patrick entered. He took a seat on the bench in the dressing room.

His hand met your waist where he rubbed your curves. "This looks good on you." he complimented. Although his attempt to change the subject didn't fly over you, you couldn't help but be flattered.

As you exited the dressing room a dress caught your eye. It was a short black dress with mesh on the ribs and diamonds lining it. You practically ran to it as if fate pulled you together. You could hear Patrick sigh and come up beside you. It was perfect for Paul's party and you wanted it.

"Where are you planning to wear this?" he asked, unfazed. You bit your lip as you thought about how you'd tell him.

You turned around to him with a nervous look plastered on your face.

"So...Paul's birthday is coming up," you started.

"Okay?" he said, sounding as uninterested as ever.

"Let me finish." you said as you looked around. " He's having a yacht party... and he invited us," you said. You looked up at him with pleading eyes.

"No," he said before turning around and walking towards the register. You scoffed at his rudeness. He didn't even think about it, nor gave you a reason. You quickly followed behind him.
