Demon silently rode down the interstate, in a beat-down Corolla with a chick by the name of Sierra in the driver's seat.
Si Si was a peanut butter brown-skinned girl from the hood who just wanted to be down so badly that she'd risk her freedom for the come up. She was warned over and over again, but she wasn't backing down once Tank agreed that she could be the driver. She was doing it for ten thousand dollars, and she already booked her BBL with Breast implant surgery, so she couldn't change her mind now.
So here she was driving one of the cars because, with a woman driver, there would be less of a chance they'd get pulled over.
It was a little after six am and they'd been driving for 3 hours and were nearing their destination. Desmond opened his burner flip phone and sent a text to Quis to get an ETA on the other beater car, a civic.
They took different routes to the pickup location. One car was filled with cash, one car empty, but would soon be filled with drugs. Quis and his driver, Hazel had the cash. Desmond's car would carry the drugs.
Sierra lit up a cigarette and cracked the window slightly.
"Bitch, put that fuckin cigarette out 'fore I knock yo head off." Desmond threatened.
"Demon, don't do me like that," Sierra whined.
"Put that nasty shit out, or imma cut yo pay."
She let out an exaggerated sigh then rolled her eyes, with her annoyingly long fake lashes as she flicked her cigarette then aggressively clicked on the radio to search for a station.
"Si si, why you gotta be extra? How you beg a nigga to let you come, then you do this. We damn near to the spot." He said.
"Cause this shit is lame, I thought it would be exciting." She admitted. "Plus I knew you won't give me no money for no dumb ass surgery, so I'm workin fo it."
"Aight." He simply said. Regret filled his head from the moment he left Jaden at his condo. He would've rather been home cuddling his woman, than two states away in the car with this birdbrain.
He flipped the phone open and read the text. They were both 10 minutes from the spot.
"Stop at the next gas station." Desmond instructed.
A few minutes later she did as she was told and pulled into the deserted gas station with a truck stop.
"Go inside the diner and sit down. Get you some food or something. I'll be back in 30 minutes." He said as she parked at the dimly lit pump.
"Don't try to leave me out here, man." She said as she hesitantly got out the car handing him the keys.
They went their separate ways as he went inside the gas station and paid to fill up the bucket.
Down the road, he pulled into the auto body shop and was met with a few Hispanic men, who greeted him warmly.
Marquis with the civic was already inside. He and Marquis walked to the back together.
"Demon, Tank, good to see you two" The man in charge greeted them, with his thick accent.
"Angelo, it's nice seeing you, how's the family?" Demon spoke while Tank unloaded the money from the civic.
"Things are good, Clarissa and I have another baby on the way, finally a little boy" he smiled as if he was talking to a co-worker, which I guess technically he was.
Angelo had been Desmond's connect for some years now. He wouldn't trust anyone else, with the way everyone was lacing their shit, Angelo would never.
"Well, congratulations, send her my love." He smiled.
Angelo lit a cigar, "When are you gonna have some of your own Demon, you're not getting any younger." He puffed the cigar, "fatherhood would suit you." He chuckled.
Desmond shrugged, "When I do, you bring the cigars to the baby shower." He smiled.
Angelo nodded before clapping his hands together, "Oh, I want you to take the F-150." He pointed to a dark gray pickup truck, "I know we agreed on an amount, but I want you to take more. No extra cost." He offered.
Desmond assessed what was proposed before speaking, "You're sure of this?"
"Sí. Está bien. The truck is already loaded and it's yours to keep or drop it off near the airport and I'll have one of my men take care of it in later days."
He stuck out his hand and shook with Angelo, "Thank you, my friend,"
"We're all good," one of Angelo's men said.
"Yeah, we're good here, D" Marquis said next to him.
"I look forward to seeing you again, maybe next time, you'll come visit my home, I'll have the private jet for you guys." Angelo offered walking Desmond over to the pickup truck.
"Maybe I'll take you up on that offer this summer." He said getting in the driver's seat.
Desmond motioned Marquis over, "Go pick up Si Si at that truck stop up the road, then get Hazel and I'll meet you back home." He instructed Quis.
They dapped and Desmond pulled out of the garage.
A few miles down the road, he tossed his burner phone out the window, determined to get through the drive as smoothly as possible.
