When You Aren't Here

Her voice still rings in my ear

Their laugh will never fail to make me smile as if the world is just us

Our inside jokes, our talks at 3am are gone forever

I like to imagine you are reading the dumb messages I send

The messages that I still send even now

When you aren't here.

My brain is fuzzy ever since I heard the news

My heart hurts like it never has before

My muscles and eyes don't want to do anything but curl up and cry

But I have no more tears I used them all yesterday

We are holding onto hope, we talk about you even

When you aren't here

Everyone is so scared,

Nothing is the same anymore, There is thick tension

Between those who get to stay ignorant, and those who know

We all are quiet, 'We' being the ones who know

No one knows what to do

When you aren't here
