Oh My, They Were Roommates
A roommate was not something you wanted. And a male roommate was pushing your boundaries much too far.
You had made up your mind that you were going to live on your own for college. But the college you were to attend didn't have any on campus housing, so an apartment became a necessity.
You knew that you would never make the rent on your own and you weren't about to let your parents help you, leaving a roommate as your only other option.
The search was going terribly to say the least and your parents stepped in to help. From everything you'd heard about your parent's bestfriend's child, she was perfect.
Then you found out she was actually a he.
This astounded you. Your parents had always been strict and you were sure that they would be avidly against a male roommate. However, like everything else in this situation, you were wrong.
To say that you didn't casually think he was hot the first time you saw him would be a lie. Suddenly you weren't as worried about having a roommate of the opposite gender.

"You do know we have coats now." Albert says, watching you shake off winter as you close the door. Taking in the warmth of the apartment. New York is known for its frigid winters and you're known for not dress for the weather. (Ahum grace_aledia wait why is it orange, is it orange for you guys too? No, I don't like it go away orangeeee)"Ha, ha, you're so funny." You chide, blinking as the sweatshirt he throws at you lands on your head.
"Wear a jacket next time, princess, I can't have you freezing." You poke your head through the hole, your arms following suit. Trying not to show how your heart flutters at the use of the nickname.
"Sir," you say, noting he seems a lot closer than he was just a moment ago. You place your hands on his chest to push him away, once he's a step or two back you let them linger.
"Feel anything unusual?" He asks, chuckling.
"No, my superpower isn't working." You reply, dropping your hands and sauntering into the kitchen.
"Oh? What's your superpower?" He asks, quickly following, hopping up on the counter.
"I'm basically a stethoscope." You reply, opening the fridge to hide from him how much you are blushing.
"You're weird." He replies, smirking at you.
"You're mean," you pout, closing the fridge once you are sure the blush has gone.
"Sorry, Princess, I'll work on that." He replies, sending you a wink that makes your heart go pitter patter. "Speaking of, I've gotta head to work. If you go out, you're going to wear a jacket, yes?"
"Yes."
"Good, see you later." He says, flipping the hood over your eyes as he walks towards the door.

You had been waiting up for Albert. Multi-tasking underneath a warm blanket as you waited for him to return from work. But as the night wore on, you decided that you might as well go to sleep. You'd wake up when he got back anyway. You started the dishwasher, turned off some lights and made your way towards your bedroom. The one across the hall from his. You snuggled underneath the covers, getting comfortable, ready for some good sleep. The second your eyes closed, you heard a noise prompting you to open them again.
It didn't sound like someone was trying to break in. You know, for sure, it wasn't Albert, you've memorized what that sounds like. You listen carefully for a while longer and once you're sure it isn't anyone stealing your not very expensive because you're broke possessions you start to drift off again.
You're not sure that your teeth chattering has ever been something to keep you up. But even under many blankets, you're still terribly cold.
"Albert!" You shout once the door clicks shut. Too chilled to even think about moving to greet him.
"What?"
"I'm c..cold."
It doesn't take him long before he's standing in your doorway, looking slightly disheveled. "Did you turn the heat off?"
"Of course not! I heard a noise and how I'm cold and I just wanna go to sleep." You whine.
"Alright, alright, give me a minute I'll be back." You frown when he disappears into his room. Emerging a while later, dressed in his pajamas with the blankets off his bed.
He spreads them out over your feet, tucking them under your chin before leaving once more.
"Where are you going?"
"To get my pillow." He replies with a nonchalant shrug.
"Why?"
"Did you think I was just giving you my blankets because I'm nice? It's a trade thing. I'll share my blankets if you give me snuggles." He replies.
He waits patiently for you to nod in agreement before climbing in beside you. Immediately gluing himself to your side.
"Goodnight Albert." You say, slowly beginning to warm up with the extra heat he's providing. And possible the fact you're under like ten blankets.
"Goodnight, Y/n." You close your eyes. Peeking one open moments later when a hand snakes around your waist to pull you closer.
"Albert?"
"Princess?" He asks, burying his head in your neck. All thoughts of pushing him away quickly vanish as he noses at the crook of your neck.
"I just wanted to say thanks," you reply, weaving your hand through his hair. "And that I'm glad you're my roommate."
"Awe shucks," he replies, too tired to formulate a proper reply. "Thanks Princess, now go to sleep. Unless that superpower of yours is keeping you awake."
"I can ignore it," you giggle. Closing your eyes for a final time and drifting off for real. Hoping morning takes a long time coming.
