24th of December
Good morning, Christmas eve. Two weeks have passed, and nothing much has happened. I have been working a lot on my modelling and personal development. I have been helping my sister with her wedding planning, and also just spending a lot of time with my mom.
I tried talking to Lewis so we could hang out, but he was in Monaco and never really talked again. I have tried not to think about too much and focus on the positives. Like tonight, it's our family's Christmas dinner, and I couldn't be happier.
I made a chocolate cake and made my way to my mom's house at 4 p.m. When I arrived, I paused at the sight of the cars in the driveway. One was Olivers', but I didn't recognise the other. I just saw a Mercedes logo and immediately started to panic.
"Shit," I said under my breath. I stood out on the snowy pavement, thinking about what he was doing here. But it wasn't long before I couldn't stand the cold and made my way inside.
I opened the door and shouted, "I'm home."
I heard no reply, only laughter and conversation coming from the dining room. So I took out my layers and made my way there. Sitting around the table was Oliver, Zan, mom, Carmen and Sir Lewis.
"Hello, everyone," I greeted.
"Hello, dear," my mom said.
"How are you?" Carmen asked.
"I'm good and how are you?" I asked.
"Wonderful," she answered, "I haven't seen you in while."
"Yes, this one is keeping me busy," I said pointing at Zan.
"It's not my fault you love helping your lovely sister," she said.
"Sure," I said rolling my eyes and we both laughed.
"Sit, darling," my mom told me and signalled to the only free chair. Next to Lewis. They are good.
I took a seat and joined in their conversation. I avoid as much eye contact with Lewis. I didn't know what to say to him, and I found it odd being like this but decided to just keep my distance. We proceeded to talk, and a while later Carmen announced that they had to leave.
"We really must be leaving," she said, "this was supposed to be a quick visit to exchange gifts," she told my mom.
"Nothings ever quick with us," she responded and they both laughed.
I started collecting the dishes to get to the kitchen and Zan was about to get up to help but was quickly stopped by Lewis who offered to help first. We walked to the kitchen and I immediately began washing them.
"So, how have you been?" he asked.
"Good," I answered, "you?"
"I've been okay thanks," he said, " I just..."
"Why have you been avoiding me?" I interrupted him and asked.
He paused, looked down and said, "it's a bit complicated."
"I have time," I said letting go of my task, redirecting my full attention to him.
"Alright," he said and sat down on the kitchen table, "When we met, I was dating someone too, that weekend before Abu Dhabi, we had a bad fight and I thought we were over. So when I saw you, it was easier to approach you and talk to you, but when I saw you again in London, I realised that I was falling for you a bit too quick."
The moment I was shocked. He liked me. Me? And I liked him. Him.
"On the day I promised to help you move, she called me, asking for us to talk about it. She wanted us to go back together, but I didn't know if I still felt the same for her. She is someone that I have been around for a while so I couldn't just dismiss these feelings and move on. But I also couldn't commit to you without getting that closure, it would be unfair to you," he explained.
He paused, took a deep breath and couldn't look at me anymore.
"So, I went to see her in Monaco," he admitted, "we were there for a week and that was honestly all the time I needed to know that we couldn't go further together. So we broke up for real and I came back, but as much as I wanted to run to you, I needed to have that time to reflect. I don't wanna rush into something cause you also came out of a relationship."
I took a moment to digest everything he had just told me and asked, "but why didn't you tell me you were back?"
"I hadn't figured out how I would tell you all of this," he said, "but I always came here to drop off my mom, hoping I would see you, forcing me to tell you all of this sooner."
Silence fell between us and I finally said, "I like you too, by the way, and I do get where you were coming from."
He exhaled in relief and said, "Oh thank God, I thought you didn't and this was gonna be awkward."
We both let out a laugh and I said, "That's why we talk things out to make sure."
"That's true," he responded, "but what do you think?"
"About us?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Well, I like the idea of not rushing things," I said, "it seems appropriate especially since we're both healing and all."
"Deal," he said, "but we can still hang out, right?"
"Of, course," I said.
"Great," he replied, "I'm having a New Years party and you are going."
"Wait, I made plans with Zan, Oliver and some friends," I responded.
"Actually, change of plans," Zan said, walking into the kitchen, "we are going to his party now."
"Were you listening to every?" I asked her as she walked out of the kitchen.
"Of course not, that's rude," she said, "right guys?"
"Yes," everyone in the dining room replied.
"How thin are these walls?" I asked.
"Very," my mom yelled.
"Ohh my gosh," I said embarrassed, "sorry about this Lewis."
"It's okay," he replied, " They were so quiet I figured, they were listening."
He is truly too good for his good. So we walked back into the dining room and everyone was sitting acting all casual.
"Alright mom, let's go," he said.
"Yes, of course," she said getting up and getting her purse, "goodbye everyone and a merry Christmas."
"Thank you," we all shouted.
Lewis then came to me, hugged me and whispered, "Merry Christmas, talk later?"
"Merry Christmas," I replied, "I'll call you later."
He planted a kiss on my cheek and proceeded to say goodbye to everyone, and they left. All the attention was redirected to me.
"Let's eat," I said in an attempt to not talk about it, but of course they made.
My family does the most.
