Mum? Mei Hatsume just appeared in the bathroom

Pt. 11 Confrontation

The next morning-

There was no point in talking to Iris while still drunk. You heard the shouting match from your room, it scared you both, so much that Mei cuddled up to you tighter than she had in recent days.

Y/N: Mei. You okay? Cos it's gonna be fine.

Mei: Babe. I don't wanna lose you, it's all my fault. She fucked those guys cos she got drunk, she got drunk because of me.

Y/N: She didn't, she went out specifically to get drinks. Also, I'm not going anywhere.

You hummed a simple melody, her grip loosened, still kinda hurting, but you could understand.

Y/N: Everything will be okay.

Mei: I know, I know. It must be path-

You cover her mouth, looking at her longingly.

Y/N: It's not pathetic, it's not annoying, you've been through a lot. That's okay.

Mei: It's just- it's all of the time.

Y/N: Because you've been hit with everything, and anything. All of the time.

Mei: Still...

Y/N: You've hid your feelings long enough. Let it all out. Let it all go. You need to cry, go for it. If you need to be made happy, well, do something that makes you happy.

Mei: I wanna play a game.

Y/N: Alright. Once Mum is done. Okay?

Three hours passed, your mother's rant had long since passed, the dead air still lingering, it didn't exactly feel like the time to play anything.

Mei: Um, she's been gone for hours, you wanna-?

Y/N: Eh. Um, well, okay. Maybe we go to your world though.

Mei: Alright.

While getting set for the game, your mother comes in.

Mum: Y/N? Can I speak to you for a minute?

Y/N: Alright.

You go with her into her room, she closes the door.

Mum: Alright. Um, so this is about that Mei girl.

Y/N: Okay.

Mum: She's basically tearing this family apart.

You closed your hand into a fist. Then released the tension in your hands and face, remembering that this was your mother.

Y/N: It's Iris' reaction to her that is tearing us apart. She thinks she's a toxic bitch who wants to take me away. When everything is going wrong for her, she needs a friend, and I was there for her, she needs me, if not me then who?

Mum: I understand that, but, well, she wasn't actually going to drink, she only decided to because of the fact that she had a lot on her mind. Then the alcohol, the rest is history. She had enough brains at the time to use protection, so that was good, but I think you need to rethink your relationship with Mei.

Y/N: Put my family before someone who needs me? Why? So Iris can have her way after fucking some random dude? Mei needs me. I want her to be independent of me, but look, it'll never happen if I leave her right now.

Mum: Look, I understand that she needs you, but we need you too.

Y/N: Well, she's my girlfriend now, in case you didn't notice, I can't be forced to choose between you or her.

Mum: Iris is forcing us to make you.

Y/N: So... Iris pulled a risky move, aimed at getting Mei kicked out because of the reason, and we're going to play straight into her hand? I'm starting to think she wasn't drunk.

Mum: Look, you're going to have to do something. I can see what she's doing, but she's going to keep doing this until you two break up.

Y/N: Well, looks like I'll have a nephew, I don't care. She needs me, I'm not falling for her tricks.

Mum: You can't say that! This is your sister's livelihood you're putting at stake!

Y/N: I'm not putting anything at stake, her reactions are what is putting her livelihood at stake. If she hates Mei that much that she will have a kid to get me to leave her, it's not gonna work! She will hopefully realise and stop while she's safe.

Mum: You don't know what she's willing to do to pull you two apart. She'll have a hundred kids if it means that you two are broken up, she's going crazy about it and no one can convince her to actually accept Mei.

Y/N: To be honest. I'm done with her bullshit. She's hated Mei since the day she got here and will never stop. She's making a toxic environment for all of us, all because she can't accept Mei as a part of the family.

Mum: Yes. I can see what it all is. I know it's her plot to get Mei outta here, but she's taking it to such extremes that we have to let her plan work, or, she will do it again.

Y/N: Then maybe we stop her from doing it, problem solved, Mei is still with us, Iris doesn't make a horrible decision to spite me.

Mum: She'll sneak out.

Y/N: She'll probably use protection the next time, and the time after, if she used it this time.

Mum: That was a warning shot. She'll be pregnant the next time. I don't want Mei to go, but if Iris is going to do this to herself to get rid of her, then I guess I have no other option.

Y/N: Well, if Mei is going, I'm coming with her. That's all. I don't care.

Mum: Look, I get what she's doing is just a plot. But, it's so insane that it has to work. We literally can't let her have a fucking child, and if she's going to have one because that's what it takes to get Mei out of here, then I have a responsibility to my child, more important than the one you have to Mei.

Y/N: I thought you'd understand. The reason why I have to stay with Mei. You and her, you're not so different. I thought you'd know by now.

You walk out of the room, Mei sat at the door crying. She shot forward into you you, throwing her arms around you.

Mei: Thank you.

Y/N: Mei. It's okay now. It's gonna be okay. I know it will.
