Princess Siglinda had promised to meet with Otmar the following night; believing that her new-found love was a secret. But Baroness Vona Ronja had followed the princess to the shore of the hidden lake. The evil baroness was the sorceress who had turned Prince Otmar and his bachelors into the swans.
The baroness was afraid that Prince Otmar might have found true love. Such a love would break her wicked spell over. If Princess Siglinda ever declared her love for him, then Otmar would be free... and become a true prince once more.
"That must never happen," whispered the baroness.
