Friday at school, things are going pretty well. Waverly, Calum, and I are closer than ever, and I haven't stopped talking to Waves. Like, we're constantly texting or calling or meeting up. It's not helping my growing feelings for the petite redhead, but I guess a relationship like this is better than not talking to her at all.

I walk out of my last class, strolling to my locker. Calum and I always meet up after school on Fridays and walk to each others houses. Once there, I haphazardly throw all my books that I don't need into the abyss, grabbing the ones I actually need over the weekend. I hear a loud thud to my left, and instinctively turn to look for the source of the noise.

"So, I've seen you hanging out with my girl a lot lately, Hemmings." The one and only Michael Clifford stands next to me, leaning against the lockers like he owns them.

"Well, Clifford, I do recall her telling me she isn't 'your girl' anymore," I reply, trying to keep my cool. It's not every day that the most popular boy in school walks up to you and is very, very upset.

"She is my girl, Luke. I want her back, and I intend to get her back. She will always be my girl. I had her first, and don't you forget it," he warbles, clearly beginning to lose his temper on me.

"She's not yours, she's her own person. You don't own her, so stop acting like you do. If she wants to hang out with me, she can. If she doesn't want to date you, she doesn't have to. And personally, after talking to you for the first time and seeing you like this, I wouldn't blame her if she didn't," I sass, causing Michael's face to turn blood red.

"Don't forget who I am Hemmings. I can ruin you if I want to. I practically run this school," he mutters.

"Oh, I know who you are Michael. I simply don't care. If I want to be friends with Waves, I can. You don't get to control me; you don't have any entitlement to anyone around here but yourself. The sooner you realize that, the better off you're gonna be in this world buddy. You get to control what you, Michael Clifford, does. Not Luke Hemmings, not Waverly Taylor, only Michael Clifford. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a friend to meet."

"Bro, you told Michael Clifford? That's like, unheard of!" Calum looks at me in pure astonishment as I retell my little run in with Mr. Popular.

"He's really not the little amazing person everyone makes him out to be. Not only is he really rude, he's kinda funny looking up close and mad like that."

Calum laughs, I join in, and we return to watching our football and eating pizza rolls. Mali strolls in, just as my phone buzzes. She grabs it off the table before I can reach it and immediately starts teasing.

"Who's this 'waves', Lu? She's asking you if you wanna come over later today and watch some movies with her. She said you can bring Cal, if he's not busy. Sorry, we have family dinner tonight or he could attend," Mali rambles, making my cheeks flare.

"Oh, do you like this girl Hemmo? Ooh, Lukey's got a crush!"

I just mutter for her to shut up and grab my phone out of her hand. I text Waverly that I'll be there, with the Hood children looking over my shoulders on both sides.

I leave the Hood household at around 5 o'clock, allowing myself to walk the short distance to Waverly's house. In this time, I kinda question how wild my emotions are towards the beautiful girl.

Well, I know I like her a lot. That's one thing I know for certain. But, does she like me? Probably not, I mean, why would she? She's gorgeous, I'm mediocre. She's so nice, I'm averagely kind at best. She's so athletic, I can't even run for a long distance without dying. She's way out of my league.

But, she holds my hand. She, to the best of my knowledge, flirts back with me. She seems to enjoy my company as much as I enjoy hers.

And, for now, that's enough.
