Chapter Twenty Four: Katniss's POV

I was breathing heavily, "My name is Katniss Everdeen... I'm from district 12... I was in the 74th Hunger Games... I won with Peeta... My soulmate is Johanna Mason... I am engaged to Johanna... She's... She was taken by the Capitol... She's still alive... She's still alive... I am Katniss Everdeen... I'm from district 12... district 12 was destroyed... My name is Katniss Everdeen..."

"Miss. Everdeen!" The person almost yelled it about but I turned to see the light, "I just had a nightmare I'll... I'll be out in a minute." The person got closer, "we can help you sleep." I shook my head and played with my engagement ring. The person came over and I fought then but they dragged me to my room and stuck me with a needle making me sleepy.

When I opened my eyes I see the medical bay was empty so I slowly got up and walked out seeing Finnick. I walked over to the blonde haired man, "I wanted to go back for Johanna." I stared at him and I heard a sob leave his mouth, "they have Annie too... in the Capitol... I wish that where dead... Johanna... Annie... I wish they were dead and we were too."

"Did you know when Johanna cooks she sings softly... that when she's relaxed and around people she lets down all her walls and just smiles and she frees free. The Capitol they took so much from me but they never could take her happiness away from me... but Snow always finds a way... Now they are in the Capitol and I wish I was dead too... wish that I would've just eaten the berries in the first games then none of this would've happened and everyone I loved would have been safe."

"What are we going to do Katniss... they have our soulmates..." Finnick looked up at me with watery green eyes. "I don't know..." I whispered.

"Miss. Everdeen. President Coin wants to see you," a tall dark skinned man comes and I hugged Finnick and he pulls back after a few minutes. I walked into the room and see Plutarch Beetee and a blonde haired woman. "Katniss," I turned to Plutarch. "Why didn't you save her too," I whispered and Plutarch starts explaining about the riots in 7 districts but I slammed my hand down. "Why didn't you get Johanna!" Plutarch ignores me, "so we need you the Mocking Jay to make some Promos telling the districts to fight and inspire them."

"YOU LEFT MY SOULMATE TO DIE!" I screamed and Plutarch stopped talking and Coin started to talk, "we couldn't save her. She knew the risks. She knew what she was getting into the moment she agreed to help. Now Katniss we need our symbol of the rebellion and you are it you are our Mocking Jay we want you to inspire the rebels."

"Then you should've saved Johanna," I got up and left them. I went back to the medical bay and on the way up the dark skinned man spoke, "I lost my daughter and soulmate in a pandemic a few years ago. First my soulmate died then my daughter. The war never stopped for us Katniss. We have lost so many on the way and we tried to do our best. I know how hard it is but you need to drive for something another wise you will just crumble up into pain. Soulmates are forever they are our reasons to live and died. Mason knew what would happen and she still did it anyway because you are worth dying for."

I turned to him, "she's not dead." Then I left him standing there.
