Since our recent events with Tazuna lying to us and us getting attacked by ninjas, we are now in a boat traveling to the bridge.
"This fog is so thick, you can't even see anything," Sakura says
"Tell me about," I say observing my surroundings
It's quiet, you can't even hear anything except for breathing, and the paddle hitting the water.
"The bridge isn't far now, our destination is just ahead, The Land of Waves," the guy says
I couldn't see anything since the fog is so thick but as we got close, I could see the a bridge right in front of me but barely.
"Whoa, it's huge" Naruto exclaimed
"What? Quiet, I told you no noise, why do you think we're traveling like this, huh? Cutting off the engine and rowing, moving through the dense fog so they don't see us," he explained
"Mr. Tazuna, before we reach the pier I want to ask you something. The men who are after you, I need to know why, if you don't tell us, I'm afraid I'll have to end this mission when we drop you ashore"
"Hurry up and talk already before I leave now," I say impatiently
"I have no choice but to tell you, no, I want you to know the truth. As you said, this is beyond the scope of the original mission. The one who seeks my life is a very short man who casts a very long and deadly shadow" Tazuna says
"A deadly shadow, who is it?" Kakashi says curiously
"You know him. At least, I'm sure you've heard his name before. He's one of the wealthiest men in the world. The shipping magnet, Gato."
"Huh? Gato? Of Gato transport," Kakashi says
"Who the fuck is Gato and why is he important?" I asked
"He's a business leader, everyone knows him".
"who? who? what? what?" Naruto asked
"Gato is a very powerful tycoon from a famous company, that's true. but below the surface with the same ruthless methods he used to take over businesses and nations, he sells drugs and contraband using gangs and ninja. It was one year ago when Gato first set his sight on The Land of Waves. He came to our island and used his vast wealth to take total control of our transport and shipping. anyone who tried to stand in his way simply disappeared. In an island nation, a man who controls the sea controls everything. Finance, government, our very lives. But there's one thing he fears, the bridge. When it is complete, it will join us to the Land, and that will break his control. I am the bridge builder.
"Fair enough for me to help you then"
"So that's it since you're in charge of the bridge, you're standing in this gangsters way," Sakura says
"That means those guys we fought in the forest, they were working Gato"
"Pretty much"
"I don't understand if you knew he was dangerous, knew he'd send ninja to eliminate you, why did you hide that from us?"
"Because the Land of Waves is a small, impoverished nation. Even our nobles have little money. The common people who are building this bridge, they can't pay for an A or B-ranked mission. It's too expensive. If you end the mission when you drop me ashore, there will be no bridge. They'll assassinate me before I reach home but don't feel bad about that of course, my sweet little grandson will be upset. He'll cry, grandad! I want my grandad!" He imitates
"Oh, and my daughter will condemn the Ninja of the hidden leaves, denouncing and blaming you for abandoning her father and living her life in sorrow. Oh well it's not your fault, forget it"
"But that doesn't change the fact that we will be risking little kids lives just so you can make it home to a kid who doesn't have to risk his," I spoke honestly earning a be quiet glare from Kakashi
"Well, I guess we have no other choice, we'll have to keep guarding you," Kakashi says
"Oh, I'm very grateful"
We sit there and enjoy the ride making sure to listen to the guy paddling the boat. As we are approaching the shore I can't help but glance around my surroundings taking in the beautiful nature around us. I made sure to take it all in now because I know I had never been anywhere except for The Hidden Cloud Village, The Hidden Leaf Village, and now I've been to The Land of Waves.
"Enjoying the view" Kakashi cuts in
"Yea it's beautiful"
"Indeed it is," he whispered
We get off the boat and start heading into the direction of Tazuna's village. I made sure to stay behind Tazuna just so he can stay in the middle and be protected.
"Over there," Naruto says throwing a kunai
"Oh, it was just a mouse"
I sighed in embarrassment, we are guarding a bridge builder and here he is throwing knifes at innocent animals and bushes. I stayed quiet tho and let Kakashi and Sakura chew him out. I kinda feel bad because he always get treated bad but he also do dumb shit.
Why the fuck is he hugging a snow bunny. Wait snow bunny's only have that type of fur when it's winter time and it's not winter time.
"Look out," Kakashi screams
I glance up to see a giant sword being hurled towards us, it looks kind of familiar.
I stand up quickly and take up my red kunai, I'll have to keep my sword on stand by just in case he likes to play.
"Well, well. If it isn't the rogue Ninja of the Hidden Mist, Zabuza Momochi"
No not him, it can't be Zabuza. I thought he was gone for good, why is he here? Did he not die? Did I not accomplish my mission?
I give Zabuza a deadly death stare, I guess I'm going to complete my mission early then expected.
