You're Starting To Love This Place

Back to the alleyway I go, I guess. It was the first thing I could think of when my energy got a bit too low. My back on the wall, I started to slowly slide down to sit and rest my head against my knees. With my eyes slowly closing and a little sigh leaving my lips, sleep swept my off my feet.

There was a pain in my chest growing bigger and reaching down into the rest of my body. My lungs felt like they were shriveling up, my hearing going out quickly, what is happening? Mist of black green started to swirl around me, where am I? What is this place? Who am I? Why do I hearing someone screaming?

My body jerked up awake, panting loudly and fast as my body was covered in sweat. What was the dream? Was it even a dream? The last thing my brain came up with before standing to my feet was that I can't go through something like that again, so that means I can't sleep that much now. The only thing I can do is just explore more, and also maybe grab a bite to eat on the way. Adjusting my black cloak, I started off by climbing up one of the buildings to start sneaking from rooftop to rooftop. Most of what I saw was just fights, some band performing, and even some parties going on. My stealing skills got a bit better too, nabbed myself two bowls of this fish stew stuff. The peace within myself- or what I wanted to be peace at least- didn't last long as my eye caught sight of The Last Drop and some of the soldiers walking towards it being led by the same guy who was meeting up with the man in the vest.

I'm sure they have some kind of plan, but anything could happen. I can always lessen those odds...or raise them, only one way to find out. I quickly slid down a pipe, running to the bar and quietly entering to not draw that much attention with my hood up. The head soldier nodded to both of his men, "Search the place." Just from looking at Vander's face, the kids were here somewhere around here. Looking over to one of the soldiers searching, he started to go down a flight of stairs. They were downstairs! They opened the door to find the room dark and dusty, turning on his flashlight and searching the place with every heavy footstep he took. There has to be some kind of way to get into the room without them noticing. Quietly searching my pockets, I found one of the tiny gears from my raven, I hope this works. I threw it across the room towards the couches, and he took the bait. That little amount of time let me tip toe into the room and crouch in one of the many dark corners of the room.

Where were the kids even at? That question was answered when I looked up to see Vi staring right down on me. My eyes flickered to Powder as she holding onto a pipe for her life while her feet held up her body from a little edge. My heart sped up from seeing that, her little hands slowly slipping from the pipe. "Shit!" I thought to myself. Time was running out and the odds were going unbalanced really quickly. Without thinking, I jumped to grab onto the closest pipe with a part of it wrapped in cloth to make it quieter. Swinging up to stand on it, I did my best to quietly get to her level. Once getting there, I held onto her arms and pulled her up to keep her from falling. Looking up at me, she grabbed her forearms as well to keep a good grip.

The guy finally left, slamming the door and letting the kids relax a tiny bit more. They all got down carefully, "Thanks for helping Powder. We don't know what would happen without you." Vi thanked me, and I smiled at her. After making sure Powder was okay, I made my way upstairs to see that the leader was looking like he was going to have a hissy fit. "You people down here are all the same," He gritted his teeth. "Mistaking arrogance for bravery." He turned to the crowd, "You think you're standing up for something, but we all know there's a crime behind every coin that passes through this place." Before he could say anything else, I walked up next to him and pulled out Vander's smoke pipe. "Go home...boy," I looked him straight in the eye. He was taken aback by that, but did what he was told and walked out angrily with his two men behind him.

"The kids alright?" Vander asked. I nodded, looking back at him, "I know it's not my place to say this, but if I were you I'd fix this shit as fast as possible. Before even more people die." He gave me a sour expression, knowing I was right to some degree, and watching me leave. I don't know why, but something inside me told me to go and see if my new 'target' knew anything about what was happening since he was the last person to talk with him.

"You sure do love this place, don't you?" I came through the usual window, quickly spotting him simply standing there. It was like he was waiting for me. He couldn't see me, but he knew I was there. I slowly walked in the shadows along the platforms, "More tolerate then love. Who are you?" "I would ask you the same question. I bet you know that answer for sure," He smirked. Word spreads faster then ever here. I said, "I'm one of the people you'd love to use that purple substance on. Just from looking at you, I know you have some kind of plan in mind with that." "You are smart, I like that." There was silence between the two of us, until I walked to the edge and looked down at him. His eyes looked back up at me, looking over my entire body.

"How did you lose your eye?" I asked him.
