I awoke later that day with a headache and a half tattooed chest under my face. I scrambled up and looked down at Felix. I nudged him, "what are you doing in here?" I whispered at him. He groaned as he opened his eyes. He stretched his arms out and motioned for me to join him again.

"Just come back to bed, darlin'. You won last night; you've earned the right to spend the day in bed." Felix exhaled and propped up on his elbows. I didn't move from where I kneeled on the bed; I just stared down at him in disbelief.

"Ok, what am I supposed to take from that expression?" Felix asked with a hint of humor in his voice. "Why are you in my bed, Felix? And where is Henri?" He gives me a genuine smile, something scarce, before answering.

"After you and Henri passed out this mornin', I stayed awake to make sure everythin' was over. A couple of hours later, Henri came to find me. He said it should be me with you, even though I argued the opposite. He said you and I share somethin' that you and he don't, that you'd want to wake up to me instead. And, well, I was tired, so I gave in."

I blinked a couple of times; I will have to talk to Henri about him mindreading me while I'm asleep. I exhale, weighing the pros and cons of telling Felix about our true pedigree. In the end, my brain decides to tell him the truth; he should know where his inner darkness comes from. We may not be fated like Henri and me, but we have the same magic flowing in us from the God, Cronos.

"Felix, I do have to tell you something. Something about you and me, about why we have this darkness in us," I began nervously.

Felix smirks, "I know, darlin'. I've always known about me, but you just confirmed my suspicion of you."

"How? Why haven't you told me this before?" I nudged him, and he let out a chuckle. He brushed a stray hair behind my ear, "would you have believed me?" he cracked his signature smile, and I rolled my eyes. He readjusted himself to lay back down, holding his arm out across the bed, motioning me to join him. I narrowed my eyes at him, but my body was still tired from using all the magics, and my headache was not going away. I finally gave in and laid beside him; he curled his arm around me, pulling me tight to his side.

"I have to choose either you or Henri, you know." I felt my eyes close as I inched further into his embrace. The warmth from his body, the steady heartbeat in his chest, and even breathing was soothing. His heartbeat quickened slightly at my words, then returned to normal. He pressed a kiss to my head as he trailed his fingers along my arm. "You've already decided, love. But we can continue to pretend until you're ready to admit it."

I awoke a few hours later; I was alone in the room. The sun was still in the sky, and the rays were shining through the windows. Today was the Solstice; we had our celebration tonight. After the past couple of hours, I was looking for any reason to relax. The past couple of months have changed me. I feel like I am no longer the same person that existed. I mean, I have magical abilities, like real hocus pocus stuff. I hope I can move on from this. I might have to travel back to revisit La Voisin; she seemed to have all the answers. Plus, she and Lesage know Aiofe, the other Greater of that time. Perhaps, she could assist me in moving past this and living a mundane life. Having this big world full of my kind and having met all these fantastic people like me, having met Felix, possibly this was all one big blessing from the Goddess Mother after all.

I heard laughter coming from the other side of the bedroom door. I lay there in the bed, just listening to the commotion. A burst of laughter would follow lulls of silence. I swung my body out of bed, quietly padded over to the window, and threw it open. I was instantly hit with Georgia's humidity. I groaned and closed the window. What was I thinking; of course, it would be humid out. It is Georgia in the summer, after all.
