riley's pov "riley! dinner is ready!" dad called out from downstairs, I quickly placed my phone in my pocket and headed to the table. "smells good" I smiled "thank you honey" courtney smiled. "what do you want to drink? soda? water?" dad asked "uh do you have dr pepper?" i asked "we sure do, charlie drinks it non stop" dad joked. charlie playfully rolled his eyes.
"alright, everything looks great honey as always" dad smiled, "okay everyone dig in!!" courtney said. she had made chicken drum legs, mash potatoes, buttered brussell sprouts, and corn. "delicious" I said taking my first bite. "so riley..do you play any sports?" charlie asked, "uh no I never really got into them" I replied, "do you play sports?" I asked. "hey basketball and soccer" he said. "and occasionally lacrosse"
"oh wow. that's a lot. I know how to play soccer but I just never went into it" I said. "maybe we can play a game tomorrow" he said. "for sure" I said. "im really happy everybody is getting along it means a lot to me" dad said. "I love it here" I smiled, "well I mean riley is pretty cool and she's nice most half sisters would be snotty and annoying she's the opposite" charlie said.
"thanks charles" I said "I take it back she's annoying" he said stuffing his face, dad and courtney laughed. a few minutes later i was so stuffed. I put my dishes in the sink, "hey you leave them i'll put them in the dishwasher" courtney said placing other dishes in the sink.
"it's been a long day, im gonna head off to bed" I said, "okay honey goodnight" courtney smiled "goodnight thank you for dinner" I said. "goodnight honey, I love you" dad said kissing my forehead. "night sis" charlie said, "night bro" I said.
I went to my room and stripped off my clothing into something more comfortable. once I felt ready I crawled into bed looking at my phone, I couldn't help but reread junior and I's dms from earlier. did I make the wrong choice?
I set my phone beside me and drifted off into a nice sleep.
*THE NEXT DAY I woke up extra early brushing my teeth, I decided to wait to take a shower since charlie and I would be playing a game.
I was making my way to my bedroom and ran into charlie, "hey! good morning" he smiled, "morning!" I smiled back. "im surprised you woke up early" he said, "well of course, I haven't played a lacrosse game in a long time im excited" I said. "do you have lacrosse clothes?" he asked. "uh I have the shorts and i'm sure I can just wear a nike long sleeve" I said. "sounds good, I invited my friend if that's okay. he's cool you'll like him" he said. "sure no problem" I said.
I went to my closet and changed into blank nike shorts, a long sleeve nike shirt, and wore nike running shoes. this of course will be difficult since I don't have cleats to help me on the field.
I grabbed my bag, phone, and headed downstairs to the smell of breakfast. chocolate chip waffles and bacon, my favorite. they remind me of bree and lucas. I couldn't help but let the guilt take over me.
"good morning honey" courtney smiled "good morning" I replied, "eat up!" she said giving me food, "thank you" I said, charlie came and ate with us. "so charlie where are we playing?" I asked "my school isn't far from here, we usually practice on their field" he said. "sounds good" I replied. I cleaned my plate and grabbed my things.
AT THE SCHOOL "so whose your friend?" I asked, "his name is gabe" he replied, "he's gonna be here any minute, let's set up" he said. I set my things down and got ready to play, charlie let me borrow one of his lacrosse sticks. I pray I don't embarrass myself.
"yo! charlie what's up" gabe smiled and they did their 'bro shake' "hey you must be riley, nice to meet you im gabe" he smiled holding out his hand, "nice to meet you too" I said shaking it.

ian nelson as gabe parker "ANOTHER ONE IN!" I screamed excitedly, "you're not half bad" charlie said playing rolling his eyes, "please im the best you and know it" I said. we were doing 1 vs 1 charlie was in goal and I was on the field. I kept getting all goals in. I felt pleased with myself knowing I wasn't that rusty at playing.
we switched out and charlie was on field and I was in goal, I still impressed myself. "WOO!" gabe cheered, "yeah yeah, she's good" charlie said, "thank you I try my best" i smiled.
"you wanna come over?" charlie asked gabe, "sure im just gonna head home and shower and stuff and i'll come over in a bit" he replied, "alright see you later bro" charlie said. "bye riley see you later" gabe smiled "bye gabe!" I smiled back.
charlie and I walked back home, "so what did you think of gabe?" he asked, "he's nice" I smiled, "he's a pretty cool dude, he's been my best friend for years" he said. "charlie?" I asked "yeah" he replied "are you trying to set me up with your best friend? because honestly i've never saw a brother want their sister to date someone they were friends with" I said.
"well i'm different, I know I just met you and i'm not saying date my best friend right now. but if you happened to develop feelings for him, I wouldn't be mad. I know you would treat him right and I know he would do the same back" charlie said. "I appreciate that and i'll keep it in mind. I don't really know him that well to like him yet" I said.
"just promise if you ever do, you won't break his heart, he's been through a lot and I really want him to find a girlfriend who won't hurt him again. he's a really sweet dude" charlie said, "I promise" I smiled.
we finally made it home and quickly took showers. thank god they have more than one. I quickly went to my room, putting on grey sweats and an oversized hoodie, I blow dried my hair and placed it in a messy bun. I also put on some fuzzy socks because it got chilly.
gabe finally came over, we were all hanging out watching movies and just hanging outside doing random things. it was probably one of the best nights i've had after everything that's happened. "is it okay I sleepover?" gabe asked "definitely" charlie replied.
"hey you guys want some hot chocolate?" courtney asked "id love some" I smiled the boys also agreed. we decided to watch a scary movie halloween. which i absolutely hate, michael myers scares tf outta me.
"don't be scaredy cat i'll protect you" gabe smiled jokingly, "i'm glad my trauma makes you guys laugh" I said, soon enough courtney came in with a tray of hot chocolate, marshmallows, and some snacks. "thank you" we said.
"AHH! BITCH DON'T OPEN THE DOOR!" I screamed at the tv, I could feel eyes on me "you good?" charlie asked "that bitch bout to die" I said. "they always open the door" gabe laughed, "so predictable!" I replied. "I know right, like it's not hard dont open the door and run the fuck out!!" he said i laughed.
END OF THE MOVIE the movie was over, we all ate dinner and stuff. "hey i'm gonna head off to bed, see you guys in the morning" I said. "goodnight" charlie said. "goodnight charlie" i said. "sweet dreams, riley" gabe smiled, "sweet dreams, gabe" I said and walked up to my room.
I laid down in my bed and decided to post some pictures from today :) before heading off to bed.
