The library was empty, something that came as no surprise to me seeing as it would be closing soon.
"Mabel." I heard a voice say behind me.
I turned around, a bit startled, only to find Ms. Maisel staring at me with a scowl on her face.
"Ms. Maisel?"
"We need to talk."

"Why did I see you get out of Mr. Novikov his car Mabel? You do know our policy right?"
I shrunk into her office seat, wanting to disappear into the thin air. The way she asked her question made me feel like she was insinuating that I had been sleeping around with Diomedes.
"Yes Ms. Maisel. I know our policy. No dating or forming any kind of familiarity with borrowers."
"Good. So why did I see you get out of Mr. Novikov his SUV?"
I felt the heat rise to my cheeks.
"He- He dropped me off?"
She glared at me. "Obviously. Answer my question Mabel."
I sighed. How was I supposed to tell Ms. Maisel that her favorite customer had been harassing me at work for the past week now. I sat up straight in the chair and clasped my hands together.
"H-He's been bothering me at work Ms. Maisel. I've asked him to stop and leave me alone but he won't listen. He's been to my apartment, threatened my friend and kidnapped me twice from work now. Today being the second day."
She narrowed her eyes and leaned back into her chair. She seemed to be thinking.
"Okay."
Okay? I just explained to her my dire situation...and all she has to say is okay?
I waited for her to continue her sentence but she didn't. She instead just went shuffling through some papers on her desk, acting as if I wasn't sitting right in front of her.
"You may leave now Mabel."
I stood up from the chair feeling as confused as ever. Did she hear what I just described to her?
"Uh Ms. Maisel?"
She looked up from her notepad.
"Yes?"
"Did you hear me clearly when I said that he's been harassing me at work for a while now?"
