October 23rd, 2017. Approximately 3:18 A.M.

The last thing Dotler expected to wake up to were sirens blaring. The man scrambled out of bed, snatching up his glasses as he burst out of his quarters.

"What's going on?" he demanded.

"We don't know yet!" one of his workers answered.

"Well figure it out!" Dotler hissed, making his way down to the security rooms. His first instinct was to check the cameras and catch whatever had broken in- or whatever was trying to get out.

Dotler broke through the doors of the security room, finding that a couple people were already there. "Explain this!" he shouted.

"Er.. see for yourself," one of them said, stepping aside. Dotler stared up at the cameras, watching the chaos unfold before him. A large black cloud was sweeping through the halls, tentacles swinging around and slicing at anyone who tried to stop it.

"She's escaping.." Dotler realized.

"This subject has never been hostile before.. right?" one of his workers asked. Dotler growled before storming out of the room.

"Get everyone down there and contain her!" he commanded.

"Sir, they're trying! Nothing is stopping her!" one of them exclaimed.

"Well we cant sit around and let her her get out!" Dotler hissed. The man turned and started for the last place he saw the girl on the cameras.

If it had been any of the others, then maybe, just maybe they wouldn't need this much urgency. Most of them couldn't possibly get away so quickly, after all. But this one, this one was too important, too essential to lose. The Claws needed her, Dotler needed her, and if she were to end up in the wrong hands...

The walls shook, and Dotler grasped the railings of the stairs to steady himself. The screams ahead of him were starting to fade. No. Dotler sprinted down the hall. He had to get there in time, had to stop her, had to--

Dotler slowed his pace when he came to a crowd of people, staring out a large hole in the wall. The man shoved his way to the front, scanning the forest below him. He could barely see the dark cloud before it vanished beneath the trees.

"She's gone," one of his workers said. "What do we do now?"

"Send out search parties," Dotler responded.

"She'll just kill them! There's already at least 12 people dead!" another one gasped.

"Well then!" Dotler paused for a moment. How do you catch a force of ancient history... by giving it a taste of it's own medicine.

"Contact the mountain base," Dotler ordered. "They have a team who will be able to stop her."

"And.. if they don't-" one of the workers started.

"That is not an option!" Dotler hissed, turning to face him. "That girl is one of the most important parts of this project. You've seen the stories of the shadow spirit. People like her are dangerous, and if she finds civilization.." he stared back out at the first, "God knows what hell she'll bring."
