The Call

"Hey L/N, the hell are ya still doin here? It's 15 minutes till your shift is over and your sitting there like a dunce, go clock out!"

You might be wondering why I'm being scolded right now, but I'm going to need to introduce myself right now first. Hi! I'm Y/N L/N, and I work at the V̸a̸r̸i̸a̸b̸l̸e̸ U̸n̸d̸e̸f̸i̸n̸e̸d̸ police station! Today was a quite day than usual, which I thoroughly enjoyed, since it meant less work for me to do while I get my paycheck loaded.

"Sorry Sir, I'll be right on that . Have a good night."

Boss just rolled his eyes and left my office space before I pushed myself up and out of my chair. Walking around my oak wood desk and grabbing my coat off the hanger by the door while using my other free hand to close the door behind me. I pull out my keys and fiddle with which key is the right one for a moment.

I swear I have too many keys on here, so I just keep cycling through the nearly seven keys on the chain till one locks the door. I walk over to the check in, and I'm about to clock put for the night, when the phone on one of my coworkers desk start to ring.

I have a quick mental debate on whether I should answer the call or not. I'm technically not off duty yet, and any longer would just be overtime.

'More pay. More money.'

More cash? I like the sound of that. So I walk over to the desk and pick up the phone before putting it to my ear, and saying-

"U̸n̸d̸e̸f̸i̸n̸e̸d̸ Police Department, what's your emergency?"

The voice on the other end was feminine, and sounded angry, exhausted, and confused all at the same time. The Woman audibly cleared her throat on the other end before asking-

"Hi, I'm calling to ask if you can send someone over to the Freddy Fazbears Mega Pizza Plex to check around the place for anyone suspicious. We saw an unidentified person roaming the building who is not a member of our security staff. We also have confirmation that there is a child also sneaking around inside as well."

To say I was shocked would be an understatement and a half, but I quickly hit the mute button and groaned as I hung my head. Why do I have to get the really shitty and tiring work while Joe gets to go home and watch TV? I unmuted the phone a second later and responded.

"Alright ma'am. We'll send one of our officers right over, just remain calm and wait at the front of the building."

As soon as I said that, all she responded with was a "Ok" before the line went dead. Dead silent. Something is definitely not right.

"If this is a prank call I swear to god."

I quickly powerwalked to the main entrance and right outside to my patrol car, and I whipped out my keys to open the door; Hopping in and starting the car. It's December right now, so the car is cold. I have to let it run for a minute before driving.

I'm the only one working tonight, on Christmas eve, and I'm the only one who volunteered to. I laid my head on my steering wheel for a moment as the car slowly heated up. I contemplated about taking out my phone, but decided against it; deciding that the car has warmed up enough and I'm ready to go.

I didn't bother turning on the sirens, since it's like. . .11:49 at night? Why wake people up with what's probably a prank call? The drive is only about 10 minutes, which is odd that the station is so close to the Pizza Plex. The old Freddy's used to be quite far from the Police Station. . .I know why they moved it closer.

Pulling up to the place, it's still got all of it's lights on, but the parking lot is practically desolate. This is weird. I make sure to grab all of my necessary tools, such as my flashlight, tazer, cuffs, and radio before heading in. I could hear the gravel crunch beneath my boots as I walked across the large parking lot and up to the front doors. Nobody's here to greet me, so maybe they left the doors open for me?
