A/n:
The story takes place during episode 13 endangered species
My characters name is Lucy and she's Eli's best friend from the surface

"The Shane gang...Protectors of the 99 caverns, pronto the mole and tracker, Kord the cave troll and engineer, Trixie the human, and the leader Eli Shane!
But... you don't know who I am, let's start at the beginning..."

"Hi, can you help me?" A boy with blue hair who was walking next to me said, I take out one of my earbuds and look at him then speak "hey since I don't know you, I'm guessing you're new here?" He nods "yeah, I need some help finding my classes, I think I'll get lost before the first hour," he said sheepishly scratching the back of his next, I laugh quietly then I asked for his schedule which he gave,
"Oh! We have the same schedule besides P.E, I can take you to your locker so you can put everything away" I said causing him to smile, maybe I'm his first friend? Nah this guy looks like he's gonna be popular with the girls real quick, gotta enjoy him being a nobody before it's too late,

"thank you...?" He trailed off which made me respond "Lucy, Lucy Kubioshi " once I said my name he smiled once again, oh no his personality is probably like a golden retriever.
"I'm Eli, Eli Shane," he said happily "well, it's nice to meet you, Eli, we should head to the lockers now," I said walking a bit faster with him following me smiles on both of our faces

[time skip to a few months]

After school I found Eli sitting on the stairs in front of the school, I walked over to him from behind and sat next to him "hey, what are you still doing here?" I asked, he was surprised by my sudden voice but then relaxed realizing it was me "I was waiting for you to finish with your club, I also wanted to show you something, come on" he said standing up and holding his hand out to me, I pretend that I'm upset about having to get up but accepted his help and grabbed his hand then stood up, he chuckled before walked to wherever he was taking me still holding my hand. We've gotten close since we first met, turns out he is surprisingly still a nobody and mainly hangs out with me and a few other people I introduced him to, I won't lie, he's probably the first friend that I've cared this much about, we talk whenever we can, and when we can't we message each other, I've met his uncle and he's met my family, we're basically inseparable, and I hope things never change.

After what felt like hours at some point it became night time and then he put a blindfold on me so it doesn't ruin the surprise, after a few minutes he stopped and took off the blindfold, it took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust but once they did my eyes widened, it was a few of the whole town light up but lights from the street lamps and the homes, it was honestly not that bad, even though the neighborhood wasn't perfect the lights made it all the better,
"it's amazing Eli, but how did you find this place?" I asked looking at him "my dad brought me here when I was a kid, and I'm showing you and telling you this now..because you're my best friend, u think it's time I told you my secret, well more like my family's secret." Eli told me looking forward at our town then at me, my eyes widened in shock, he never told me about his past and I was ok with that, I just didn't expect him to trust me that much
"Now this might sound crazy but...Under the surface, there's a whole other world called slugterra, my dad would go down there a protect what they call the 99 caverns, and when I'm 15, I'll go down there and protect it, when...my father disappeared for a while things weren't that bad, but one day I had to move in with my uncle since my mother wasn't able to take care of me anymore... but a bit after the school dance I'm going down there" he finished saying and I grabbed his hand and looked up at him
"but will I see you again?" I asked sadly, I didn't wanna lose my best friend, not again.
He looked at me sadly then at the town "I don't know..it's easy to get down to slugterra but getting back up, will be a lot harder" he answered looking anywhere else but me, I start to tear up a bit but make sure he doesn't see them by quickly smiling to hide the sadness "well that sounds cool! A whole other world under our feet?! Maybe one day I'll be able to go down there too" I suggested which he quickly looked at me shocked before smiling,
"I guess we'll wait and see! We should go, your mom's gonna kill me if you get home too late" he said nervously, yeah my mom's was pretty strict but she loves Eli.....

Almost as much as I do...
