What immediately drew people to Mantis Dubois was her beauty.

Her deep vixen hair, which shined in the light, flowed like birds on a summer day and never fell flat. Her emerald eyes with a hint of gold, something so soothing yet jarring, gave a sense of comfort but shook you up when met with. Her lips and her way with words, she would lick her lips to bring attention to them, to enchant whoever dared to speak with her, made them dazed. Her fingertips would graze them with delicacy making them shiver on the inside. She knew what she was doing, and she knew it worked because it always has worked.

Mae was a tragic thing. Her life from the day she was born was pure, miserable, tragic. And since the day she was born, she has always been told one thing, that she will only succeed in life because of her beauty, but it will only take her so far. So heartbreaking yet so true, Mantis was something that everyone wanted to be, a concept so impossible that was within reach.

Mae's life on paper was something many dreamed of. Known as the princess of the east side, many people idolized her, falling to their knees, knowing her power.

She knew the privileges she had, being the daughter of the man who ran NYC, Warrane Dubois. She knew how her beauty played a role in her life. Hell, she has been badgered by men over and over again, telling her the same shit like she didn't get it the first time. And, she didn't let that go to waste because her dad always said that her beauty would only get her so far.
