I had plans to publish after two days but due to the overwhelming response I have received on this story in less than 12 hours, I couldn't stop myself from publishing it.

It was the New Year morning, when the Birla House was radiant with positive energy.  Parth, Abhimanyu's cousin,  and Manjari, Abhimanyu's mother, were busy getting the table ready for breakfast.  The four doctors of the house were discussing plans for the hospital for this year as Shefali, Parth's wife got a call from her office.

"Hello Veer," she smiled,  "happy new..." and then frowned, "What?"  She nodded her head, "the year just started and such a big news.  Who is reporting it?"  She looked for the remote and spotted it, "of course, I'll get ready to report, there are so many people to blame in this tragedy, we have to get to the bottom of it!"  As she looked through the new channels, she spotted what she was looking for. The whole family turned their heads to witness the news, fire and smoke didn't enable them to see much.  As the reporter shouted, "we have been told there are nearly forty people who were travelling on this bridge when this bridge collapsed. They have been taken to the nearest hospital to check for injuries.  Some identifications are yet to be made, but we have been informed that there have been four deaths so far, the number may rise if the facilities are not given to the rest of the victims."

Dr. Harshvardhan Birla, Abhimanyu's father,  was quick to respond, "we need to prep our hospital, this is nearly three kilometers away, but we are the best hospital in the area. We might get some cases..."

Dr. Mahima, Parth's mother, shook her head, "always about PR , imagine the lives lost on the first day of the year, how the family will deal with the loss. "

Abhimanyu looked at the tragic event that had taken place just in the early hours of the year.  His left eye twitched again and tried getting rid of it by rubbing it hard.

Manjari looked at the family and prayed, "God, please be kind to our family and all the people who are victims of this tragedy."  They all moved to their respective seats, when Abhimanyu's phone rang. Manjari looked at him and smiled,  "Surely, it must be from my future daughter-in-law. I also want to talk to her."

Abhimanyu checked his phone and it was indeed from Aarohi, he nodded at his mom and then picked up the call, still looking at the television,  the first word came out like a whisper, "Akshara."  Everyone was utterly perplexed  and then turned their attention at the television, where they saw a lifeless body of her, on the stretcher, being carried away.  Blood stained her faced and shards of glass covered half her face.

His heart felt like it had stopped beating,  he stared as the footage moved on from her to the reporter. As the phone slipped from his hand,  everyone turned back to Abhimanyu to see his eyes tear and he had trouble breathing normally. Neil, Abhimanyu's brother, held him from his shoulders, "Bhai, let's go!" Abhimanyu failed to reply in words, he just nodded desperately, wanting not to be a moment away from her.
