SHINDARA'S pov.
Ringggggggg!!!
I was awake the moment my alarm went off. I had set it to 6am the previous night, which was later than usual though and that was because I wanted to get enough sleep before preparing for work. I said my morning prayers, plugged in my earphone and scrolled through my morning time playlist. It was my go-to relaxation pill, especially on my lowest days. It was a playlist consisting of motivational and gospel songs and messages from some of my favourite speakers and musicians. The habit of kicking off my day by listening to them had become second nature to me. Since I wasn't going jogging that day, I just stayed in bed and listened. Then I later slugged out of my bed to get prepared for the day's activities.

"Good morning mummy"
"Morning papa", I greeted my parents in a singsong manner as I walked to the living room, after I had bathed and gotten dressed for work.

"Morning my love", my father answered.

"My beloved, how are you?" Mum said hugging me.

"I'm alright", I replied and proceeded to the door.

"Aren't you having breakfast this morning?" Mom asked.

"No mama, I don't think I'm ready for that. I'm running late for work already."
"I'd just get something to eat when I get to the office".

"Mind if I grab something from here?" I softly asked my dad who nodded in approval as I grabbed an apple from the food tray in front of him as I walked past his side of the dining table.

"Why not let me pack it for y..."

"Darling, you worry too much", my dad cut her, "she already said she wouldn't be able to wait for that...".
"The young lady probably has a lot of work to do this morning at the office...hmn". My father added and briefly smiled at me before continuing with his meal.

"Yes mum, your hubby is right". I said and rolled my eyes in my head. My mother could be stubborn at times; well, But thanks to dad for saving me this time. I am sure she would have forced me to wait and get some food packed for me had he not intervened.

"I'd just have this apple on my way". I said waving the apple I took from my dad's food tray at my mum.
"By the way...Daddy, would you be coming to the company today?"

"Uh...I feel a bit weak so I don't think I would be coming to the office, besides there's nothing I need to attend to at the office today" dad replied.
"Okay Dad", I said and pecked his cheek.

"Bye my love," mum said as she hugged me with a fake sober look on her face, pissed that I couldn't wait to have breakfast.

I got out of the house and drove all the way to T.C . Cooperations. It was my father's company and I was the managing director, and acting CEO when my father was away. He always complimented my very excellent performance at work. My father's company wasn't the only place I had worked and never have I not gotten good reviews in the places I had worked, right from my internship days. So certainly, my father knew he could rest assured his company would be in good hands when he finally retires. Being the only child of my parents, it seemed like  I had to prepare myself for most of his legacy that would be transferred to me. His company and business being one of them. Luckily, I shared a similar career path with my father, so it didn't seem like I was being forced. T.C. Corporations was an empire built by my father and it was doing so well; I was more than happy to move in and make my contributions.

                    ✓at the office✓
"Good Morning Miss Piles", she greeted as she walked into my office. Rachael was one of my staff at the office.

"How're you Rachael?", I replied.

"I'm very well ma'am. Uhm...this file needs your signature ma'am", she said handing over the file.
While I was signing, Ria, my personal assistant, walked in.
"good morning Miss Piles, a representative from Starcops company contacted me few minutes ago that the meeting time has been rescheduled from 1:00pm to 12:00pm"
