In life and death

I believe in fate
Because we met by chance
You were a perfect son and a perfect prince
I was exiled from my country by my own father
We couldn't be more different
Yet we ended up in the same palace
And then you chose me to be your companion
We were still kids so I was waiting
For you to realise your mistake
But you never did
So I grew up watching you become a perfect man
How could you be anything less?
Son of a goddess
I stayed up so many nights
To memorise the lines and curves on your face
I thought it was only me and I stayed quiet
How terribly wrong was I
I was always your shadow following you around
Though I didn't mind that
But that one time I became a leader
I lost you and then watched you lose yourself
Maybe I was only meant to follow you
Still you followed me to death
As I followed you in life
