The medieval period (5th to 15th century AD) or the Middle Ages was a very violent period of histor. Massive stone castles stood at the heart of quests for wealth and power. Weapons and tactics changed as warfare was revolutionised and new technologies such as the Arbalest and Trebuchet were brought to light. Kings employed Knights and men at arms including archers to aide them in holy battles, wars and conquests.Skill in the use of medieval weaponry was necessary and played a vital part in the Middle Ages. Every able man was expected to be proficient at using medieval weaponry and had to be available for battle. Knights used broadswords and lances as well as maces and flails. The infantry used axes, bills, Arbalests, swords and English Longbows. Siege engines were vital in siege warfare, and were used to take on castles and pummel opponents.
