Hey Everyone, Here's chapter 39!....

Caroline's POV

Where is Hayley?! It's been fifteen minutes!

I sigh upset and walk around the room before I feel a strong pair of arms grab me and drag me towards the dancing couples. I protest before I come face to face with Klaus.

"Looking for someone, love?"

"No," I huff. Klaus' hand wraps around my waist perfectly and drags my hand upwards as I spin around before returning my other hand back on his chest.

"You look beautiful, Caroline." I blush at his comment.

"Thank you," I stutter out, rolling my eyes on the inside at how flustered I sounded. His face moves towards mine until his mouth is placed next to my ear.

"Do not fret over Hayley. She's with Elijah." His breath tickles my ear and I feel a new rush lower down to my abdomen.

As long as it's with Elijah.

"You clean up well," I whisper as Klaus moves us between the other couples dancing. His tux was completely polished and neat, his curls the same without a single strand out of place.

Klaus smiles back down at me as he twirls me again. I grunt in pain as Davina accidentally knocks into me while Kol twirls her around as well.

"Sorry Care," She whispers, her voice laced with worry.

"It's fine," I giggle back as Kol leads them away again, their lovey-dovey eyes glued to each other as they dance. I look over to them with envy as they block out the stares and glares.

"It's improper, that's what it is, Aster!"

"That girl is getting out of hand. Soon she'll be sleeping with the dogs after that wicked vampire is done with her! It's her friend Caroline, she's rubbing off on our daughter, teaching them it's okay to be near the vampires."

I glare at the whisperers who happen to be, expectedly, Davina's mother and Aster, Bonnie's Mother.

I turn back to Klaus as his hand moves to my back, rubbing it soothingly while sending me a look of don't interfere. I sigh in disappointment as I try to shake my thoughts from those witches' voices. My eyes turn back to Klaus as he looks down at me, a mixture of emotions running throughout his face.

All of a sudden, everything starts fading away as I continue to stare up at him, our eyes locked only on each other as the music guides our bodies around the room. I feel our faces inch closer and closer before I remember I had to tell him something important.

"Klaus, I-"

"Shhh. Tell me later," Klaus shushes me, eyeing towards all the guests around us, a few quite frankly staring straight at us. "We've been dancing too long. Someone will start to notice. Come up to my room tonight." Klaus whispers the final part in my ear, his breath still tickling my ear and sending warmth down south. I quickly nod before we break apart, the warmth once in my body lost as Klaus moves back around the room. I make my way out of the other couples quickly, towards Bonnie and Hayley, who just stepped back into the room.

"Where have you been?" I ask Hayley, who looks flushed from whatever she's been doing with Elijah.

"Nothing," She mutters out and I send her a quick grin, followed by a "mmhmm". Bonnie lightly giggles at Hayley's state before drinking down the rest of her drink in the glass.
