THERE HE WAS.

I could only see his back but I knew it was him. He sat at the edge of the massive pool, opposite of the wood-sculpted water slide that lead into the jacuzzi. His feet dangled in the water as he sat back against the palm of his hands.

He wasn't alone.

The same pixie cut hair that stumbled in the nurse's room last night was plopped next to him, her legs criss-crossed, avoiding the water.

Crystal.

She was drowning in an over-sized sweatshirt - a sweatshirt that resembled the one I was still wearing. It didn't say anything about Aaron on the back-his last name or team number-but by the way it draped all the way below her knees told me that it wasn't her sweater.

I stayed inside and watched Phil from afar. Nothing new. But I couldn't bring myself to walk out to him. To go up to him and make conversation. Just one word: hi. That's it. But I couldn't say it.

I don't know what possessed her to look. Maybe she felt me boring holes into the back of their head from my intense staring. Maybe she had crick in her neck. Whatever it was, it made her turn around. And when Crystal's eyes met mine, a big toothy grin crossed her face and she waved. Repeatedly.

And then he turned around.

His smile followed right after and like Crystal he began waving. Only he wasn't just waving hi, he was waving me over. Gesturing that I'd come join them.

"Okay, breathe Blake. You can do this. Just walk over there. Simple five steps-six tops. And say hi. It's one word. You can do it." After my poor excuse of a pep talk I sucked in one big breath and forced my legs to not buckle beneath me as I started my way over.

The journey over there was stopped short after a couple of steps when my face collided with the door. Hard. Apparently it was a glass door. A really clear glass door. The collision managed to make me stumble back but not enough to hit the floor. A throbbing pain on my forehead ached and no matter how hard I tried to rub away the pain, it continued to throb. That is definitely going to leave a bruise, a big black and blue bruise on my ego to add to the collection.

"Oh my god Blake, are you okay?"

I squinted my eyes to see Crystal leaning over me, her brows furrowed with concern. Looking past her I saw Phil standing a few steps behind her, holding the door open.

"Let's get her out in to the air," he suggested, nodding his head to the direction of the backyard.

Crystal reached her arm out for me to grab, but all I could get a hold of was the cotton material that swallowed her tiny arm.

"You alright?" Phil asked once he met up with him by the door, placing a hand on my shoulder and instantly making my knees buckle beneath me.

Phil must have noticed me staring at the back of his hand because he quickly removed it and ran it over his hair, giving it a messy bed-head look than his usual side-swept look. I quietly sighed at the lack of his touch.

Covering it up, I coughed. "Who, me? Psh, don't worry about me Phil-Phillip- Philly Cheesesteak- "

It came out before I could stop myself.

Oh my god.

What did I just say?

How could I have just-
