Chapter 8 - A Main Character's Abilities

Ah yes, Quirk.

It was one of the things that drove this world's common sense to shift, well, minus Kayaba’s event that is.

And now, I am researching it.

The theory of individuality can be said to be correct as well.

Changing out my body components to Mana crystals I got from dungeons, and fusing the quirk with my body is surprisingly an easy job to do.

Of course, there are downsides.

Forcibly doing so, can even cause death.

But what do you actually need to take that “Individuality”, and then make it your own?

The answer was quite simple.

By giving birth to a new kind of “individuality”.

Well, I guess this is my quirk.

From my right hand, is a Magicules to metal convertor.

While my left hand convert Magicules to Mana crystals.

Holy shit, I can do a wolverine right now...

What am I supposed to call it?

Half steel, half crystals?

Uwaah sounds lame.

I tried to figure out what type of metal compounds it was.

Well, it was kinda obvious for the blue shining crystals.

My left side converted into Tungsten.

The most heat-resistant metal on earth.

Well, was.

Now that I developed a way to “breed” demon steel with my Magicules and forge it on my own... If it spread out to the world, everyone's common sense will shift into a “Hah? Heat resistance? Wazzat? Is it tasty?”.

So, these quirks are actually kinda useless for me.

But that won’t matter I guess, it's quite versatile, so I will come in handy at last.

As for my other skills.

Sharingan for instance, gave me an ability of illusions such as Tsukuyomi, and a familiar humanoid chakra called the susano'o.

But there should be another type of power only specialized by these eyes…

Which…I only know Tsukuyomi and susano’o…  but hey!

It’s better than nothing…

Rashomon is quite versatile.

It allows you to manipulate garments.

I could just go ahead and touch someone’s shirt, their shirt will transform as spikes and just stab their body in and out without any kinds of warnings.

Not that I will actually do that.

Because I'm so nice.

Anyway,

I tried practicing Rashomon on monsters.

It worked effectively.

Mostly I shaped and sharpen my cloak of levitation as an anywhere-katana.

Of course, using Karasu also makes me pay a little Magicules or Chakra, so Rashomon will become a good extension for my battle skills.

It only consumes stamina after all, and adding the fact that I'm a vampire, I don’t need the concept of sleeping… excluding doing it as a hobby of course.

I haven’t tasted blood though…

I trained some more on ninjutsu and finally, my eyes.

These heterochromatic eyes, one glistens in pinkish-red and the other one colored in glacial dark blue, its sclera is taken over with a pitch-black color.

Jagan and Tengan.

Both are visual abilities.

What troubles me is what abilities does it actually has...

Well, no matter that for now...

I still need to practice everything else.

That explains why he got stronger than everyone else.

Well then, back to assess my skills.

Karasu's Phantom swords give me the ability to summon swords imitation made from spiritual energy.

Maa~ I found a way to replicate it with any kind of energy.

Either Chakra or Mana or Magicules, they’re all just some superpowers after all.

What makes the difference is how you utilize it.

Chakra can also be used like Magic in the same way.

Chakra pathways make it easier to manifest the energy even though it shattered the stability.

While casting Chakra circulating them through your whole body or the pathways, will improve its stability. Though manifesting the energy can potentially harm the user or won’t manifest at all.

That’s right, it’s just like the theory made by certain broccoli about One for all.

Magicules are the most versatile amongst those.

The more magicules you have, the closer you are to achieving evolution after all.

Of course, that’ll be useless if you didn’t throw away the human common sense you previously have.

For example, having the skill of Magic sense still won’t make you stronger in battle if you rely on the habit of using your eyes too much.

I feel like I already have enough control over both energies.

No, I don’t think so.

Dullahan is cursed monarch's vessels, then that means there should be other monarchs as well.

Now that manifested a question in my head.

Is it possible that Kayaba is also a monarch?

The answer to that is unclear.

I have the title; Shadow monarch.

Shouldn’t it be “Shadow monarch's vessel” if that is the case?

But… the 『Player』 is a skill I obtained through the Voice of the World.

And that didn’t make any sense.

Are all monarchs have a system on their own?

All I could conclude was that the “Shadow monarch” and Kayaba are not in a good term with each other.

I mean, he is the creator. He should be able to track anyone down within the system.

But Kayaba didn’t mention my name tag or my real name.

Was there a shadow monarch before took the mantle?
