-HER-

"Are you two done?" A familiar voice asked calmly out of nowhere. The two of us froze before. I could see Filth turning a shade paler from the side of my eyes before I turned around to face Romulus.

"Yes," I answered.

"Then let's get going, we have other things to do," He commanded before eyeing Sally's dead body beside me. Filth got up and rushed outside instantly without saying anything, leaving the two of us alone briefly. For a moment I stood there and didn't know what to do until he held out his leather-gloved hand. I walked up to him and handed him the piece of paper with the address but instead, he reached for my hand with the broken ring finger. It was oddly twisted. Before I could say anything, he cracked it into its place, making me cry out in pain.

"That should do for now," He muttered before holding my hand gently and leading me out of there. I couldn't help but glance at Sally's dead body briefly before leaving. Her words were ringing in my ear as he helped me inside the carriage before we were moving to whatever the next place was. I was still catching on my breath and trying to make sense of what just happened there while I saw him taking out that piece of paper and studying the address pensively.

"Just where I thought," He muttered to himself before crumpling it and tossing it out of the window carelessly as if I hadn't broken a finger and risked getting killed for that. I was about to open my mouth and ask him where he had been while Filth and I were dealing with that mess but I fell quiet as I saw him take a clean handkerchief out from his coat and wipe the few blood drops from his wristwatch.

"What are we going to do next?" I asked him instead.

"You'll find that out in a while," He replied curtly while making sure that his watch was clean. Just after a few moments, the carriage took a sharp turn and came to a sudden halt. The door was being opened by Filth before Romulus helped me out. I found myself in front of a Watch shop. I instantly knew it was his but what were we doing there at that moment?

My question was answered as he led me inside and took me to the very back of the house before opening a door to what seemed like storeroom. He led me through it, walking up to its end before opening a cupboard and stepping inside it.

"What are you—"

"Just come inside," He told me.

"Are you sure?" I asked him, judging the small space.

"I don't have time, Ophelia," He told me sharply, so without saying much, I stepped inside the cupboard with him before he closed the door, drowning the two of us into complete darkness. I couldn't help but be aware of our proximity. I could just hear my heart thrashing against my chest and something fluttering my chest as I felt his hot breath playing with my locks. On top of that, Sally's words kept ringing in my ear. I shook my head. No. I didn't want to think about her anymore. She was dead but her words just kept haunting me.

Meanwhile, I heard something click in the darkness before the cupboard seemed to be falling. All of a sudden, it was feeling too claustrophobic.

"What is happening?" I gasped but all of a sudden, it came to an end soon enough before a bell rang somewhere. Then someone opened the door, blinding me with light.

"He's here—" A voice stopped abruptly. I blinked several times to adjust my vision. I saw an unknown man standing outside, looking at me in bewildered but he straightened up and moved away instantly after receiving a cold glare from Romulus.

"Is everyone ready?" I heard Romulus asking that man while I stepped out of the cupboards to find myself in a room filled with people and... weapons! I saw some people holding familiar guns— the same ones Romulus made me put together a few days ago.

Everything was starting to make sense now.

"Yes, sir. We're only waiting for your command," The man responded, slightly bowing.

"Where's Haskell? I'll have a word with him before we leave," Romulus spoke, "And have someone look at her finger," With that, the two of them disappeared somewhere in the crowd, leaving me by myself. Though I wasn't alone for long because soon a man came up to look at my finger. Meanwhile, I still kept searching for Romulus or Filth but they were nowhere to be seen and it was bothering me.

I didn't know what they were up to next but the way the people were dressed here and all the weapons they had, I was sure that it just wasn't headed in a good direction. By the time Romulus finally returned, the man was done working on my finger and I was surprised to see that it was as good as new.

"We're leaving now," Romulus declared to the people and soon they started to move out.

"Where are we going?" I asked him.

"To that address,"

"And what am I supposed to do this time?" I asked him.

"I'll tell you on the way. We don't have much time," he responded curtly as chaos surrounded us.

Less than half an hour later, I found myself in front of an old factory building in a not so pleasant part of the town. And this wasn't an ordinary town. I tried to be as calm as I walked down the dark road by myself. The moon hung high on the clear sky, which was odd because when we left Romulus' house it was raining. Nonetheless, I was grateful for whatever light it provided me because I was sure that I was being followed by shadows in that dark place.

As I took a turn, a huge courtyard appeared in front of me. I headed towards the gates, doing my best to stay as calm as possible. Ahead of me, two guards were standing by the gates, watching me like a hawk. I walked up to one of them and showed them the advertisement for a new factory worker. He nodded before telling me to follow him. As soon as we left the courtyard and reached the small parking area where there was no one except the two of us, I took out the needle and stabbed him in the neck from behind. I wasn't expecting it to work but I was exceptionally surprised as the man collapsed to the ground with a loud thud.

The sound caught the other guard's attention. I hid behind a carriage as the other guard came to enquire about the situation. Quietly, I snuck behind him and stabbed him the same way. As soon as the two of them were out, I snuck back to the courtyards and signalled with the help of the gem around my neck. I got a hint of relief when I saw some commotion in the shadows outside the gates.

After making sure that they were ready, I found my way back to the small door facing the junkyard. It took me a minute to pick the lock before successfully opening the door. I was met with a pair of glowing rimmed eyes as soon as I opened the door and almost jumped back. I wasn't expecting him to be already there. Everything was going better than the plan. As he and his men entered through the door, a gunshot was heard in the distance, making all of us freeze in the dark.
