Cleo is having a hella good time :)
On a serious note, in this illustration, I tried to emphasize her being out of place, uncomfortable, uneasy, anxious. She's totally not herself here and it's not even her choice. In this situation, her ex gave her these jewelries and dress, and it exposed parts of her that she clearly didn't want to show. Also, in prom nights, people are often dressed according to their sex. Cleo is uneasy with such people (she has an affinity for androgynous people).
It can also be interpreted in other ways, like being forced to dress according to your sex, discomfort, and the simple terrors of prom to those who are uncomfortable with socializing.
NOW, about the painting itself, it's my first time actually painting lol it was fun and terrifying, but mostly fun :3 I hope to draw more paintings soon :D
