Eddie's PoV
Do you know that feeling you get when you're sitting alone in your house, minding your own business, and then out of the blue you hear a noise that you know you didn't make? The feeling of your blood running cold, and your windpipe shutting out any air that could've possibly made its way to your lungs. The violent twisting in your gut that's powerful enough to make your knees wobble, if you weren't already frozen in place. Then the air becomes almost impossibly still, while you try and make sense of the events happening around you through the beat of your heart pounding in your ears.
It's a powerful, and unforgettable feeling. It's one of those things that you never truly understand until you're already experiencing it for yourself. I must admit, I've heard a lot of staggering things in my lifetime, and have seen a lot worse. I've stared into the eyes of the monsters our parents tried to tell us aren't real and lived to tell the story. I've felt like I've seen it all, and yet a lifetime of preparation still couldn't have possibly prepared me for this moment. I didn't even know where to start trying to make sense of it.
"What?" I finally manage to scrounge up a word, imploring that maybe- just maybe- this might be some kind of sick joke. Venom shrinks back, clearly not pleased to have to repeat it.
"Everything that you are experiencing is simply because of the gestation process."
"No," I shot back quickly. "No, you don't get it. What the hell are you talking about? Gestation process?... Are you trying to tell me that you're pregnant, Vee?" It was a lot to take in if they were being serious, but it would make a lot of sense. If that were the case, then I could only expect to feel some kind of shock wave of symptoms since we share a body.
Oh but no, I was even luckier than that.
Venom shakes their head. "Not me, Eddie." They stare expectedly at me, and I feel a long, thick tendril snake its way around may waist, wrapping around my hips and resting on my stomach. "It showed up a few weeks ago. I normally eradicate any irregularities I find in the body, but it did not pose as a threat to us, so I had no desire to get rid of it. I've been watching it instead. Studying its steady growth pattern. It was only a few days ago that I realized what it was."
As if the first little detail wasn't enough of a punch in the face, that was the K.O. The moment they finish their last sentence, I feel vomit shoot up my throat, and I quickly drop to my knees, hunching over the toilet with not even a second to spare. My ears ring loudly, only getting louder each time that I gag and another splash of fresh upchuck leaves my lips. Once I'm finished, I spit out as much as I possibly could before leaning back breathlessly against the tub, still trying to grasp onto the information I just learned.
Venom watches me, their shining white eyes drenched with concern and worry, seeming not to understand just how big of a deal this all really is. My head shakes, and even though all the signs say that what they tell me is true, I can't pry myself away from my own incredulous behavior.
"How did this happen?" I ask flatly. Vee looks down in thought, I assume trying to recall the incidents leading up to now.
"Sex. The way it happens to all other humans," they state simply, as if it were obvious.
"Female humans, Venom! Female! Humans! This shouldn't even be possible!" I was starting to lose my cool, my blood beginning to boil in a concoction of frustration, confusion, and fear. I was finally reaching the peak of my patience, and it was clear that the ride down was going to be a rough one.
"Yes, there were issues. But I took care of them."
My mini breakdown ceases, and I slowly tilt my head upward so I'm looking at them. "What do you mean you took care of them?"
