"Where are we going?"

Eawynn continued to pester her father as she rode atop of a horse, who had their reigns tied in with his own. She assumed she was worth more scrubbed clean and awake so he had let her bathe to remove the grime and blood from her hair earlier that morning. Something that she was grateful for, albeit begrudgingly.

Her head still ached, but she did what she could to bear it and continue on her path. There was no way of getting out of it - atleast not yet. Not now.

Maybe whoever he was selling her to would pity her and let her go.

Doubtful.

But, still, she had faith.

She reached up, having to bring both hands up as they were neatly tied together with thick rope, and touched the necklace that she wore. The one that belonged to her mother. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she tried to remember what she looked like. Sadly for Eawynn, she could only go by what others have told her.

"I'm not telling you anything, Eawynn. So please quit your yammering." Her father snapped over at her, his dark eyes boring into hers as they road along the River.

They were not traveling alone. It seemed as though Lord Alfric, in the time she had spent apart from him, made some new friends. They were Mercian men, and she wondered why they showed him any loyalty. Alfric was anything but loyal himself. He was a selfish man. After all, if he could not be loyal to his own flesh and blood, how could he be loyal to anyone else?

Eawynn looked down as she held onto the mane of the horse. She missed Haesel. That horse was wild and free spirited, just like she was. As they continued down the beaten path before them, Eawynn found herself wondering if Finan would take care of Haesel for her. Or maybe they would just sell her to the person with the most coin.

No, you mustn't think like that, Eawynn thought to herself as she gnawed at the inside of her cheek. She took turns chewing on the right and then the left side. She made sure to bite down hard enough to where she could draw blood before leaning over and letting out a disgruntled moan before spitting out the blood.

"Lord." The man to her left called, getting Alfric's attention.

Alfric turned and watched the blood mixed with saliva drip from his daughters mouth. The horses stopped their trotting and he immediately jumped down and pulled her down with him. "Open your mouth, child. Did you bite your tongue off? Do you know what you'd be worth then?" He screamed, panic written all over his face as he reached forward and grabbed her cheeks to try and force her mouth open.
