1 Kings 19:11-12

68 3 2

"The Lord said, 'Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.'

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind, there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper."

Isn't it crazy how The All Powerful, Creator of the Universe, One And Only God decided to reveal himself to Elijah in a whisper ? God could have pulled up in one of the flashier earthquakes or winds or fires. But just like how there were still seven thousand people still worshiping God in Israel, and just like how Jesus came as a little baby born to a virgin and a carpenter, God sometimes works in quiet, underground ways. Sure, there are times where he raises the dead and makes the ground shake with his footsteps, but don't think for an instant that God won't sneak in through the back door to put his perfect plans into action.

Something I wrote down in my Bible at the time of reading this also shows how if you are looking for a big sign from God, don't forget to just be still and listen. I wrote, "They wait for Him in winds, earthquakes and fires. But the Lord sometimes comes in whispers that echo through the night. Look for God in the little things too."

My prayer for y'all today:

God, thank you for having a plan for all of us. Thank you for coming in the biggest signs and the smallest posters. Lord, help us all to see your big announcements and hear your quietest whispers. Help us to find times to rest and to listen and to talk to you. Thank you for everyone reading this, bless them and keep them safe. In Jesus' name, Amen
