There were many things Taehyun didn't understand about Beomgyu. Like how Beomgyu would never retaliate, or how he was trying so hard to save money, or how he was oddly positive. There so much more that Taehyun couldn't comprehend about the older and this made him slightly annoyed. Why did Beomgyu show him his scars and not say anything about them? Why was Beomgyu looking so restless nowadays?
Taehyun stirred his lychee tea before taking a sip, his eyes never leaving his notebook. Pushing his glasses up, he continued to study what was written in his notebook. His exams were around the corner and this would only mean one thing; he hated to be disturbed. Be it his family or his closest friends like Hueningkai and Beomgyu, he would still hate it. Whoever distracted him or interrupted his studies would receive a cold shoulder from him until his exams were over. There was no exception.
Clank! Taehyun's head shot up to see where the noise was coming from. Everyone was now staring at the waiter who had just dropped a metal ladle onto the floor. It was Beomgyu.
Beomgyu's face turned red with embarrassment and shame as he picked up the dropped ladle and quickly apologised to all the costumers and his coworkers, bowing 90° while doing so. When Beomgyu saw Taehyun glaring right into his soul, he honestly thought that he was doomed.
"Hey, you've been really out of it lately" Beomgyu's coworker and friend, Jeongin, whispered.
"Y-yeah... I'm sorry about that" Beomgyu smiled apologetically and proceeded to wash the soup ladle at the sink.
When Beomgyu had told Soobin that he would be fine, he really believed so. But now he realised that he actually lied. He was not fine. The thought of his mother somewhere out there right now scared him. He knew she couldn't do much to him anymore since he was now a full grown young man but he was still afraid and worried. He swallowed the lump in his throat as he tried his best to keep his mind off his mother.
If only he was born a girl, then maybe none of this would have happened. When Taehyun had said if he was supposed to be born as a girl but his parents wanted him to be a boy instead, Beomgyu had thought that it was quite the opposite. He was a boy, but his mother wanted him to be a girl. Beomgyu was born out of an affair. He didn't know who his father was but he assumed that he was an important or public figure. Beomgyu's mother would blame him for everything. Gathering bits and pieces of information his mother had included when reprimanding or shaming him, Beomgyu could slightly make out what had happened. His biological father probably had a legitimate son, so Beomgyu's existence threatened his family peace. Thus, he had completely cut ties with his mother as he didn't want to risk it.
Beomgyu wasn't curious about who his father was at all. He must be an inconsiderate, irresponsible and disloyal asshole and Beomgyu didn't want to associate with anyone like that.
